I feel like you and I have similar taste in blink songs but I just could never get into this song. I give them credit for at least trying something different and out of the box for them but much like Fighting The Gravity, I just don't like the song at all and almost always skip it if I'm just playing random blink songs.

 

Man that hook with simon singing is so good though! My issue with FTG is there’s not a real hook. BOTO has hooks galore!

 

Yeah I don't get the hate for BOTO. I love that song so much.

 

I just can't get into it. I don't know why I just don't like it. I do wonder what Fighting The Gravity would have sounded like if maybe Mark and Travis had input from someone else, I don't know maybe another band member perhaps. It just sounds like a complete 100% Mark song that needs some touching up. Not to say the song would have been any good with help but I think it would have been better.

 

Fighting the Gravity and this Steve Aoki song are both better than Bottom of the Ocean

I love Fighting The Gravity.

 

Fighting the Gravity felt like blink-182 trying to capture a mood outside of “nostalgic youth” or “unrequited love”. It’s atmospheric and absolutely not a standard blink-182 song but it felt weighty. Bottom of the Ocean sounds like it could have been written by hundreds of other bands.

This Aoki song has better melodies and vocals than Ocean and warm, melodic synths so I’d take it between the two even though neither do a whole lot for me.

 

Ok, Idk what’s going on, but I went from hating this song on first listen, and now have listened to it 6 times. It’s really growing on me

 

Couldn't make it through that song. Just not my thing.

 

I DO hope they release it as a single with an a/b side so we can hear the original version but idk that that’ll happen since this is being billed as aoki feat. blink. Maybe not a radio single but just a single, ya know?

 

I don't know if I think there is another version of this, like a blink version. I kinda hope it doesn't exist as a blink song cause there is no way Mark could ever pull off that screaming part live lol.

I like the song well enough for what it is and even if I had hated it, I don't mind at all them getting more exposure with a random feature in another genre.

 

I've listened like four or five times. It definitely has potential to get in my gym playlist rotation at least

 

This is my take as well. I'm definitely not put off by the pop or EDM elements as much as most blink fans probably are, but even as a fan of both styles, the song is just okay. I kind of like it, honestly, but I really don't think I'll end up replaying it too much.

I thought Skiba was easily the best part of the song. Mark just sounded a little flat to me. And it doesn't help that his first part of the song has a shit ton of side chaining going on with the kick drum and the bass which is almost distracting.

 

Blink makes a song and Tom has to go and one-up them dammit

Ya so I just listened again. Still dig it. That “little heart attack” line seems so All time low but I also love it.
