Back to Hulu is fine with me, but I want the other non-Criterion stuff streaming too.

I watched the first half of the third episode of the third season of Fargo, then watched all of the third season of Daredevil, then watched the second half of the third episode of the third season of Fargo. So yeah, my experience of this episode may have been skew(er)ed.

Whenever The Leftovers had an episode centered on Nora Durst, it was usually one of the best episodes of the season. When Fargo gives Carrie Coon an entire episode... I mean, I wasn't expecting it to turn into The Leftovers all of a sudden, but I was kind of expecting more out of how the show would utilize her. Most of the episode was exposition and flashback, rather than coming to any revelations regarding her character. I don't know, I guess I just wanted the show to do more with the episode, also because, from what I can recall, it's the first time the show named Fargo left the cold and snowy Fargo area for a substantial amount of time. I'll stick with the season, since I'm canceling my Hulu account this month, and I'm a fan of Hawley and a lot of the cast, but this episode in particular has left me a little underwhelmed.

 

Fargo is super tight for every season, but the first is still my favorite.

 

I don't know how to feel about David Thewlis saying c******. I guess that's within the parameters of his character, but like, why is that even in Noah Hawley's vocabulary.

Well, it's not necessarily a curse word, but it seems to be the go-to insult people on the far right like to use online (so like, hearing it spoken aloud is super weird, or maybe I just don't frequent those circles irl), and I personally think it's just really dumb, both because of what it means and how it sounds.

edit: What's also kind of funny is that that's the most shocking thing about that scene for me. Like, oh, he just put his dick in a mug but that's not the first time a British actor I know from something kid-friendly has done something not-kid-friendly in something not-kid-friendly. I've seen the Ninth Doctor in The Leftovers, Rose in Penny Dreadful, Martha in Sense8, and heck, even Thirteenth Doctor in Black Mirror, but ohhhh I draw the line at using a American far right pejorative.
