Good move; wish it didn't come at Daedalus' expense. I can't believe it's not on YouTube yet. If this was an LA or San Diego show, we'd have 3 videos by now.

Just in case some people aren't aware, they've already said they aren't playing Whistleblower this tour:

"Sorry ... not tonight, but we fully intend to play it on future tours." Riley during the AMA

Well, Dustin confirmed what we already knew: Whistleblower is about Driscoll.

Nice! I'm glad he got to get that off of his chest. I can't imagine how hard that situation was on him

I don't know why it took me until this post to realize why that intro sounded familiar. Thanks for making me feel less crazy.

I wouldn't call the end of Whistleblower as having "tribal drums." It's just additional percussion, sounds like extra floor toms. Very cool effect, but nothing about it seems tribal to me.

Surprised not to see Words in the Water or Image of the Invisible on there.

I know; I just didn't want to stop and explain it all.

Plus, it'll be cool when they have friends come out to play the added percussion live. Remember when they did that with Earth Will Shake during their Farewell Tour?

They've been open about not wanting to play songs that they've played a million times in previous sets. They wanted to bust out some rarities. So, songs like Deadbolt, Words, Image, Sun... had to go by the wayside.

(They only played Sun in Houston of because technical difficulties.)

I'm ok with that since pretty much every song by them is good and they have so many. I think people who didn't have the setlist spoiled would be really surprised in the moment. I wouldn't have guessed a lot of the songs that have been played this tour.

Fun question: since the majority of people are in love with the opener and closer of this album, how would you rank it with the rest of their openers and closers? For me:

    Firebreather
    Yellow Belly
    Cold Cash and Colder Hearts
    All the World Is Mad
    Kill Me Quickly
    Image of the Invisible
    Broken Lungs
    Hurricane
    Digital Sea
    Moving Mountains

    Red Sky
    Beggars
    Disarmed
    The Beltsville Crucible
Don't Tell and We Won't Ask
    Child of Dust
    The Flame Deluge
    Salt and Shadow
    Kings Upon the Main
    Silver Wings

I have been debating making this EXACT same post for like a week now, haha. I wasn't confident enough in my rankings to pull the trigger, though.

Edit: No Identity Crisis and T & C?

I have no excuse because even though that's the only album I don't care for, I like both those tracks and Phoenix Ignition lol. I'd still put both at the bottom though :tear:

I don't remember them doing that on my date, but I remember seeing people come out for that and The Earth Isn't Humming on the DVD. Really cool stuff.

Perhaps it was just a hometown show thing since their friends were in attendance.

Red Sky is easily the best closer.

Ok. Here is a rough attempt at ranking opening tracks (excluding the new record, I am hesistant to rank anything I have only had for a few weeks). As with my record ranking, I'm just going to place them into tiers. There is no ranking within the tiers, songs are in chronological order. The only easy one for me was putting All the World is Mad last haha. I love Beggars, but that's easily my least favorite track on that record.

    First Tier

    Cold Cash and Colder Hearts
    Image of the Invisible
    Firebreather

    Second Tier

    Identity Crisis
    Kill Me Quickly
    Moving Mountains

    Third Tier

    Digital Sea
    Broken Lungs
    Yellowbelly

    Fourth Tier

    All the World is Mad

Yes...but a thing isn't beautiful because it lasts

100% behind you on Cold Cash, that song still makes me want to vandalize my apartment if it plays loud enough.

I was thinking about this the other day, and I can vividly remember each time I heard one of Thrice's new records. I don't think I can say that for any other band. Maybe Brand New. Each Thrice record has just left this awesome imprint on me. Like each new record marks a new chapter of my life. I was 15 when I heard the opening notes of Identity Crisis and I know exactly where I was and who I was with. It's crazy how close I feel to these guys and what an enormous impact they have had on who I became and I have never met them.

I hope I get a chance to tell them that some day.

I don't to live in a world where Kill Me Quickly is up higher than All The World Is Mad, Digital Sea, and Broken Lungs. I am hurting.
