songs from the new record are played in this video. sounds amazing.

 

I want to see them but when I saw them in 2015 it was one of the biggest disappointments of my life.

 

excited for this, pretty down with the new song. tbh i havent heard fading frontier in a long time and was kind of underwhelmed with it but the rest of their discography is some of my favorite ever so will forever have a huge love for this band.

 

New song is good. Sign me up.

 

this is so heartbreaking. he was such an integral part of their sound for the albums he participated, particularly in a large portion of cryptograms and wrote nothing ever happened, which is arguably their best song. what a loss, r.i.p and my condolences to his loved ones.

Yeesh. I remember one of the first Deerhunter videos I saw was them playing live and he was just chillin on bass with a smoke in his mouth. Thought it was rad.

 

nothing ever happened is their best song, due in large because of his chops on it. RIP

nothing has clicked hard after Halcyon - hope this record changes that because Weird Era, Microcastle and H are some of the best modern rock albums

This is a surprisingly pretty record

 

This is pretty good. It’s better than the last effort, but some of it still sounds like they struggled with where to take certain songs and they end up just dragging parts out that aren’t very interesting and rather straightforward. And Detournement is not very good.

Still, a pleasant sidestep from the general Deerhunter sound and some of it is great.

 

I like this even less on second listen.

 

hahaha what happened?

I was getting all excited by yr posts and gradually been let down

 

It just feels like it’s missing something. Especially after the first four songs. And some of it is very boring.

 

Yeah its a weird record. Especially sequencing wise. Wish I hadn't seen those live vids before this because the studio versions got pretty butchered. I'll keep listening and hope it grows on me. Theses will still be great live at least.
