@Dinosaurs Dish Tom Brady being Donald Trump’s “friend” and refusing to criticize him kills my chances of liking and respecting him for his skills. Of course I acknowledge his prowess as a player but that doesn’t mean I have to turn around and like him.

He’s talented as all hell but someone who’s “just a positive person” in this political landscape is not someone I like being the face of a sport that’s deeply entrenched in social injustice and issues

I reserve the right to continue spitefully rooting against Brady and the Pats haha. I wish Drew Brees was the face of the NFL instead.

Oh, I'm not even talking about them as people, just athletes.

I couldn't care less what he believes.

 

When it comes to teams that have made me sad / angry in the past, I stay mad if I dislike that player / coach. I come around and respect & admire them if they’re likeable off the field.

 

Fuck Brady. Lebron is a much better human being and has done things actually worthy of respect

Political complacency among professional sports players is a waste of what is a highly influential platform.

Your job is football. You make so much money and are a role model for so many people that with the lift of a finger you can make a difference. Would it kill Brady to stay politically involved at least?

 

Well, now you understand why Ben withdrew but didn't say anything. Maybe Brady did some shady stuff too but assumptions don't excuse it.

 

I don't even think Brady has to be "politically involved". At bare minimum he can be like..."Hey, genocide is bad and rape is also bad, institutionalized racism is bad, and we shouldn't enable these things in the world". It's extremely easy to not be speaking at political conventions but still not enable basic bad things, it's the bare minimum, and Brady doesn't do it.

Like Brady strikes me as a guy who’s literally like “well I’m fine so who cares what else is going on”

 

i might be wrong, but how many players (or even just QB's) speak out about stuff? i don't recall seeing anything said by Rodgers, Brees, Rivers, etc.

Haley seemed like the only competent person on the staff, they should have probably kept him at least for stability for Baker
