Update on this-
They did in fact add a layover due to a schedule change and every single flight that day had at least one layover added. I specifically sought out a direct flight because we’re flying with two dogs and they told me I could cancel the flight and get a refund if I wanted (which isn’t plausible this close to when we leave) and then I asked if we can at least get vouchers for an upcoming flight and they were like hell nah

 

How long is the layover?

 

This is where you messed up. You should’ve *demanded* the vouchers haha. Ask for a supervisor.

“No, I don’t think you understand, ma’am. This compromised our entire trip. Do you know how hard it is to keep track of multiple animals in an airport? AND a baby? You aren’t doing enough to fix this. I specifically requested a direct flight and the whole trip revolves around it. We’ve been planning this for 6 months. If you can’t compensate me for a ruined vacation that cost my family a lot of money, then you need to put me on the line with someone who can. Can I speak with your supervisor please.”

And then you speak a little nicer to the supervisor, but talk about other competitor airlines and how they never changed your itinerary last minute, and how you’re second guessing ever flying with them again because you can’t trust them to keep the details together.
