You have a great eye for talent but you’re definitely using hindsight for this one haha. On draft day were those legit the top players on your board for the Jags? Can you honestly say that you didn’t have other players you liked that clouded your judgment?

And now imagine that lack of total certainty in a team draft room, where GMs have to compromise with other decision makers who are set in their ways, and trust scouts who all have flaws and get things wrong... so even if a guy really is that good at knowing talent when he sees it, very rarely does he get to call the shots without a second opinion telling him different.

We are armchair analysts and you are a very effin good one. But no GM is gonna be like “alright Watson Kamara Kupp, three pro bowlers” in any given draft haha. Ozzie Newsome did it once and his whole career afterward with Baltimore hasn’t lived up to Ogden / Lewis. Shit, Caldwell might have done it with Ramsey / Jack / Yannick but here we are two years later unable to trust him to do that again.

Let’s be real. There’s a standard deviation and a variance in any statistical analysis - try to think of mistakes and miscalls by teams front offices as a natural deviation from what’s ideal. It’s never just one dude suggesting all the right players haha.

I give you credit for getting a lot of college players right, but if you had that job you’d see why it was so hard.

@CarpetElf was super anti-Watson on draft day and was pro-Fournette but Kamara was very appealing from the start for any RB needy team that would happen to not get Fournette or McCaffrey

Tbh, Fournette clouded my judgement haha. I love him and he's one of my favorite Tigers ever so of course as a fan of both teams I was ecstatic.

He did it again this year imo with Bryan, Chark, and Ronnie.
