I don’t think anyone finds Let the Right One In particularly scary or stressful. It’s a very sweet film except for some of the disturbing aspects of some relationships and the violence.

 

Let The Right One In has a fair amount of gore and the child vampire thing is unsettling. A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night is just really cool cinematography and atmosphere

Both of them are among my favorite modern horror movies

 

First Reformed has been on my list forever, I just haven't been in the right mood to watch it yet!

I'm excited to revisit It Follows - I was invited to guest on a podcast that's doing it for their Halloween episode and it's one of my favorite horror movies. Just so much to unpack.

 

First Reformed is not a horror film, but it is horrifying and disturbing. One of my favorites of this year for sure.

I want to show my friend Trick r Treat and Evil Dead (2013), but we're still working our way through all the Halloweens. So much to watch!

I mean, I wouldn't really call it "horrifying" relative to this, but it is among the year's best and everybody should go watch it immediately

Just don't want to set anybody up to be disappointed/have unfair expectations

 

I want to say more about why it was so terrifying but basically everything I want to say is a major spoiler. I hope people bump the thread after they watch it.

 

Oh, I mean, I agree with you. It echoes some of my greatest fears (probably the same ones you're alluding to) but I just didn't want to set anybody up for disappointment that doesn't know they're going into a much slower/bleaker film

but yeah, as I said, everybody go watch it (like, right now)

I totally understand the creative desire to make other things but it sucks that our most promising new horror director is gonna pivot from the genre

 

I’m about to watch this for the second time. Been excited since I saw it in the theaters! I’m definitely ready to get lost in this movie again.

 

Whyyyyyy would you do that to yourself

As much as I can recognize how good this movie is, a part of me wishes I can erase it from my memory

But like, I mean that in the best way

But honestly I would never watch this again

I'd be excited to own something like Get Out, but if someone gifted this to me I'd probably throw it in a fire. Not really. But yeah.

 

....I watched this movie twice, and still love it.

 

I want to watch this for a second time more than anything I've watched this year tbh

Watch Antichrist

 

Yeah that one's fucked up too but it didn't stay with me nearly as long

 

I did not enjoy antichrist

 

Gonna be honest: I think Lars von Trier sucks and that the French extremity directors do what he tries to do 100% better.

 

Oh I agree I did not like Antichrist. Though just in terms of disturbing films it stuck with me.....scissors.

 

I love Melancholia and like Nymphomaniac quite a bit. Antichrist was interesting and I was into it, but won't watch it again.
