The crowd at my screening of Halloween was terrible too. I moved after the first 15 minutes because the guy directly behind me had already cleared his throat a minimum of 100 times. Then I was in front of a family with young kids that kept kicking my chair. That coupled with the entire audience having conversations anytime there wasnt dialog on screen... Mainstream horror movie audiences suck.

Overall, still had fun. It was a fun theater experience. The crowd was into it. There were a few little Easter egg fans will find through out, I’m sure more than I even picked up on. Judy Greer was fucking terrible tho

The la Llorona thing is such bs. Latin American actors should be able to be the lead in their own folklore and its disappointing cause I like Linda but like no. I've heard some ppl excusing it like she might not be playing a Latino character but married to one or whatever and it full stop doesn't even matter like. They gotta take a folktale from Latin America and center it around someone who is not Latino cause God forbid. Like they didn't even bother casting a white Latino or something they had to go all out.

Unfriended: Dark Web is awful. Like, the back and forth conversation and all the tech babble voodoo is cool for awhile since I know fuck all about that, but the film itself is not scary in the slightest and the “Dark Web” tag line is complete bullshit.

Also, The Blair Witch Project now has competition for best snot / booger scene and that’s about the best thing going for Dark Web.

I'm assuming their logic is that she can be our "way in" for the exposition dump.
Which is stupid and lazy, because it's folklore...you can literally explain it to anyone in the movie.

I'm still hoping it's at least a good movie because there's been so many about La Llorona already and it deserves better.

Bought A Head Full Of Ghosts by Paul Tremblay. Heard good things so I'll be diving into this shortly as my first book venture into horror!

Finally got two of my favourite horror films from the seventies on Blu-ray after long having them on decade plus year old DVD's, they are Invasion of the Body Snatchers which is one of the few remakes I find to be better than the original and Don't Look Now which is my all time favourite horror film and it also came in a really nice steelbook case.

Pretty sure I said this already in the thread but the Criterion of Don’t Look Now made me cry it was so beautiful.

And unrelated, but Under Wraps is still a perfect DCOM and I hate that it never gets any glory.

there's a cheap-o ripoff cash in of the "Unfriended" movies called "Friend Request". it might be the shittiest movie have seen in at least 5 years:

    • they superimpose a stock image from Shutterstock behind a car driving down a road. they use this scene / image twice. and i know it's from Shutterstock because THE FUCKING SHUTTERSTOCK LOGO IS CLEARLY SEEN ACROSS THE ENTIRE SCREEN IN FRONT OF THE BUILDING :crylaugh::crylaugh::crylaugh::crylaugh:
    • (not gonna spoiler tag this because no one will watch it) this is a horror movie in which the "killer" does not directly kill anyone. a few people get injured, but no one directly dies because of the "killer".
    • there is no action or violence in this movie. a cop gets thrown into the grill of his car and someone else gets hit over the head with a wine bottle. that is it. the rest of the movie is just dialogue and someone getting a t-shirt ripped.

@BirdPerson i think you enjoy shit movies? if yes, this train wreck is on amazon prime and even fast-forwarding at 1.5 speed i feel like i wasted my time.

Finished Hill House with my wife last night. We loved it. Episode 8 had what I can probably say is one of the most effective jump scares I’ve ever seen in movies or TV.

Also, my wife and I started noticing a few episodes in that there appeared to be people/ghosts out of focus in the background, but it was never clear enough to be certain.

Then, as the series went on, we started being able to point out easily recognizable faces and figures and they were closer to the foreground. We figured it was something along the lines of the haunting becoming more powerful so the ghosts are closing in more on the family.

I was afraid to see spoilers so we didn’t look into it, but I found this today since we finished the series.

Can’t spoil tag links so avert your eyes if you don’t want any Hill House spoilery stuff (though it’s not plot stuff)

I too finished Hill House last night. Pacing was unbelievably good. I can, at times, get a little fatigued watching series like this that jump around so much timeline-wise. This had no issue like that. Really well done.

The ghosts 100% freaked me out, and the twists were also done really well regarding the ghosts. Nell's sleep paralysis gave me real anxiety having suffered from it myself.

This felt like a combination of American Horror Story S1, The Conjuring, and The Babadook all rolled into a burrito. I love all three of those, and I love burritos.

    Agree with all of this.

The sleep paralysis thing also gave me anxiety. I’ve told my wife about it before (have had it 3 times that I can vividly remember) and she was really upset for me. I told her my episodes were made even more scary because I couldn’t even make the smallest of noises, unlike Nell who was able to wake up Arthur.

Just saw Halloween, it was good! Really hoping for a world someday where I can see a horror movie without some asshole talking through it!

I was going to see Halloween this weekend, but all the "assholes talking" reports have made me decide to wait until next weekend. Maybe I can get a morning showing with no one in it.

Poor baby, you're starting to lose it.

Dude straight up answered his phone in front of us after it rang 5 times during Halloween. Thankfully it wasn’t a quiet part.

I'm in the same boat. If I didn't love Halloween, I absolutely wouldn't have gone opening weekend. There was a lot of chatter throughout our movie, but thankfully there was a scary ass lady who was in my row that screamed at the row in front of us about half way into the movie. That kind of put everybody on quiet mode lol.
