cuz based on the songs on spotify, boygenius have serious potential to be my new favourite band

 

Bite The Hand is an all timer for me already. I’ve been spamming that and Me And My Dog. Juliens song doesn’t do a whole lot for me tbh

 

Got tickets for PDX date. Decided I am just gonna drive up there and go alone. Just my mood lately. Will be disappointed if that mood changes by the show tho lol. I may have pulled over to the side of the road so I could buy them at 10. Not taking chances over here!!

 

Things I don't miss about living in Hali: breaking the bank to fly literally anywhere.

 

I’m ready for the other 3 songs

 

Honestly really surprised more people don’t think Juliens song is their favorite. I like the other two but that song REALLY does it for me. Maybe just right place right time kinda thing. This part kills me every time:

Constantly repenting for a difficult mind
Push me down into the water
Like a sinner hold me under
And I’ll never come up again
I’ll just stay down

I’m starting to think Julien’s my favorite lyricist

 

That is definitely a standout moment of all three songs. I know I don’t have to pick a favorite, but the Lucy Dacus led track really surprised me and I find myself singing the ending of that song a lot.

The thing is, each of these songs could stand among the best songs they’ve each written in my eyes. I haven’t obsessively 3 songs back-to-back-to-back in a long time.

 

I’ve only listened to the first track they uploaded and only once as I thought it would be strange buying a six song EP where I’d heard three songs. Maybe I’m just weird but I’m hoping the pay off in November is worth it.

 

I am going to be a puddle when I see them play these songs

how I imagine boygenius started out. Phoebe - Bean Elfo- Julien and Lucy - Luci. It actually works out quite well haha.

 

"Stay Down" is one of my favorite songs of the year. Good God.

 

Didn't expect the tickets to be $32, but I need to get one soon for the Wiltern

Love that article. So excited to hear “Ketchum, ID” too, sounds like the kind of track I was hoping for from the project

 

um Julien described themselves as a band version of Voltron in that article so now my hype is at an all time high
