  1. But when you were available, I was
    Drinking Colt 45's with Lando
I was hanging out in the cantina
    On Mos Eisley

    Hahaha.

But seriously, hmmm ... the opener from "I Miss You" off the top of my head is one I love:

    Hello there
    The angel from my nightmare
The shadow in the background of the morgue
The unsuspecting victim of darkness in the valley
We can live like Jack and Sally if we want
Where you can always find me
And we'll have Halloween on Christmas
And in the night we'll wish this never ends
    We'll wish this never ends

I would probably pay a good price for handwritten lyrics from Mark, Skiba or Trever Keith

For Mark it would def be something from Dude Ranch. I think lol

I would probably ask Mark to write the chorus to Going Away To College, the bridge to Feeling This, or the bridge to Lillian.

  5. i'd have him write out "I GUESS THIS IS GROWING UP" and then i'd sell prints of it to high school and college kids around the world

    jk jk

That line and some pun on what’s my age again will show up in every review of theirs forever

It'd have to be the bridge of Stockholm for me for sure. Peak Hoppus writing.

Mark aged very well as a writer. Everything he's ever written feels earnest and meaningful even if it's sophomoric in the early days. He got very good at dark, introspective mood pieces after TOYPAJ. California has moments but I really can't stand most of the lyrics on that album, and long for the reflective, introspective stuff on untitled/+44 more than the fun pop punk stuff on California, I'd like to see him return to that. "Here's Your Letter" and "Lycanthrope" are pop punk jams, but the lyrics engage me more than Kings of the Weekend or most other California stuff. And sonically I really liked when he'd branch out into other instruments on stuff like "Baby, Come On" or "I Miss You" and will hope in vain for more stuff like that on future blink releases. Hell, two of my Mark Hoppus highlights post blink-reunion are the melancholy, softer duets with female vocalists in "Make You Smile" and "Psycho", I wouldn't mind them bringing in a guest vocalist for something in that mood.

Not to re-hash something that's been said a million times in this thread.

Goddamn the bridge on Misery is great. Mark needs to do more of this.

if mark quit blink-182 to start an electronic acoustic pop singer/songwriter duo with a female guitarist/vocalist i would be ecstatic

Yes. I really want to hear more of Mark’s writing without the pressure to sound like blink-182

  15. Even a solo album where he invites a handful of guests to participate

I'm happy he's happy, blink is vital to him in so many ways and I'm happy he has that outlet revitalized. But his sensibilities as a songwriter are so great and could be brought to life in way more versatile and interesting ways while still sounding like Mark Hoppus than simple pop punk songs with "na na"s. I hate to say it over and over again but I want him to push himself, whether in blink or outside of it. "Psycho" is so good. Untitled is my favorite album of all-time and When Your Heart Stops is one of his best outputs. He's very good at pop punk but I know he has more to offer.

but I'm one fan and blink doesn't mean the same thing to me it once did so more power to him to do whatever he wants.

I love his energetic Dude Ranch-style vocals and his higher pop punk hooks like in "Bored to Death", but when he doesn't have to do that and uses his lower register, he can do so much more than pop punk IMO. I think that's why his work with female artists that you keep referring to works so well. He lets them take the higher parts and is able to relax.

Yes. I would probably say that im more a fan of Tom, Travis and mark, than i am of blink-182, these days. If blink ended meaning mark would do solo stuff without pressure of charting or having a specific sound, i would be very down with that.

    Edit: pre 2016 Tom...
