I definitely like BTD more, but I don't know if the comparison is fair since these are two completely different types of songs to me.

  6. yup! only once though so far. i really want to hear the actual studio version (uncensored and HQ) before i reeeeeally dissect it, but after that first listen, i'm so stoked for this album!

I just talked to my producer buddy and he said that the harmonies have an effect over them that is associated with not only Goldfinger but Feldmann's other work. So, for those of you who hear Goldfinger, you're not wrong but it's more of a Feldmann thing than a Goldfinger thing.

Third listen. I like the second half of the hook, rest of the song I'm middling on, and I hate the outro.

  9. How does an "effect" go over just a harmony? That doesn't even make any sense. And the vast majority of Goldfinger doesn't sound like that at all ...

I think I liked every song I heard in the 20 minutes I listened to Beats radio more than Rabbit Hole haha

    Travis interview/discussion takeaways from Beats 1 - Update 1

I'll stick with stuff we don't already know or assume, btw.

....and I've got nothing yet after four minutes. (Now vs. Then being in a band, wrote the album in 90 days, picked 14 out of 30 tracks, etc etc etc)

    Stay tuned for Update 2

  13. I can honestly say this is better than BTD. As much as I love BTD I kind of feel it was a little too radio friendly.

Vocals can have effects added to them, just like a guitar can have various effects added via ProTools or Pedals. I know you know this already so please don't think I'm being condescending.

In this case, the track creating the harmony has an effect that is synonymous with Goldfinger and Feldmann's production habits. My producer buddy gave me a very in-depth explanation.

This song is fantastic. I like it more than BTD, though BTD is probably the "better" song.

I can definitely hear Feldmans influence. In the best way possible. So happy they went with an outside producer this time around.

  17. Your producer buddy is talking out his ass. There is no "specific harmony effect" that is synonymous with Feldmann. Compressing the hell out of that drum? Sure. But a "Goldfinger" harmony? Come on. That harmony is flat out every 90's pop punk band ever. It's cliche, not a producer thing.

The short time period they wrote this in worries me but then again wasn't TOYPAJ like two weeks or something crazy like that?

Yeah but at least they paved the way for Mest.

  22. "Bored To Death" had me smiling from ear to ear when it first premiered. I was so dumb and giddy during that song.

"Rabbit Hole" was a little different for me. I didn't get as giddy. I think I was over-analyzing if it sounded like Enema-era Blink like the band had described it a million times. This is why I hate hearing comments/reviews about shit before it's released because I end up comparing the song to those comments rather than just listening to the song for what it is, haha. BUT I can't wait to listen to the uncensored version a million times as soon as I get my hands on it!

  23. I believe Enema was done in only a couple weeks too

Not at all, every producer has a certain way they edit and mix certain aspects of songs, feldman has a specific way he typically does harmonies/background vocals. Just like he has a specific way he likes to compress the drums.
