yeah I remember enjoying them for what they were, but I was definitely an outlier of my friends in that I enjoyed 3 way more. I think 3 was closer to naked gun type humor than the wayans brothers style if I remember correctly. but it's been a very long time since I've seen any of them haha

SM3 had its moments. Pretty much any time Brenda is on screen I die laughing because Regina Hall just embodies attitude like no other and delivers her lines perfectly.

Every time the crayon box hits the door and she yells "NOW WHO DA FUCK DID DAT?" I die.

My copy of the Trick R Treat collector's edition blu-ray from Shout! Factory comes today. Man, cannot wait to see it again.

Need to start up my annual Halloween movies, I'm running out of time!

Man I miss stupid-funny movies like Scary Movie. Feels like those don’t come out anymore.

it's because that genre got beaten to a pulp with every possible variation of parody. I think vampires suck was the final nail in the coffin.

Those Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer movies were atrocious. They put in any pop-culture reference from that year and passed it off as jokes. I'm sure if you watch them now they seem so incredibly dated.

They were dated literally while still in theaters and yes, they pretty much singlehandedly killed the entire genre.

Also all I can think about when someone mentions Scary Movie is that they pulled a “copious amounts of semen” gag TWICE.

I was never into gross-out humor particularly anything involving on-screen bodily fluids... sadly the semen gags is all I remember from the first two Scary Movies

I admittedly love returning to horribly-dated comedies that rely on pop culture references. And I'm also a sucker for a good gross-out joke, so those movies are thoroughly entertaining to me haha.

I was gonna say the semen gag in SM2 is the first thing I remember from that movie (and Chris Elliot's weird hand). But I didn't wanna bring it up haha

Haha you all are all harping on the least impressionable moments for me imo. The semen gag was funny in the moment, but those scenes never really return to my memory when discussing the movies.

The last of those satire movies that I saw was Date Movie, and that was horrendous. But Scary Movie 1-3 I will always recommend to people.

The Exorcist scenes in SM2 were pretty funny as I recall. Didn't know that was Natasha Lyonne now that I'm looking it up. Andy Richter was great. The white people singing Shake Ya Ass was not great

If I didn't know that it was the Wayans brothers who wrote the script and had them do it, while likely standing in the room laughing their asses off at how ridiculous it is, it probably wouldn't sit well with me now.

I only remember the “use my strong hand!” With the guy with the deformed / small hand.

And him using it to mix the mashed potatoes or something.

And I only remember those because friends and I have randomly shouted that out over the last two decades.
