Show was cool last night. It was packed though and I had a pretty crappy spot that prevented me from having the best time, but good for them. Saw Aaron just chillin with his 2 month old watching Joan of arc’s set and it was cy-ooot.

used Flee Thou Matadors as an opener on a playlist I made for my friends and it feels good. made another playlist for myself with that as the opener

 

I really love how this album has two sides: apocalyptic through softer more hypnotic instrumentation, and apocalyptic through chaos. Ones that fall into chaos:
927, hydra, w&b, michael
softer: julia, dormouse, tortoises, new wine
then a couple outliers - winter, and flee
and more interlude like, outros - 2459 and break on through.

It makes for a very balanced record for me.

I sometimes think this too, but then the rhythm section kicks in on Tortoises and it's game over.

 

Seeing them tomorrow. Won't take videos. Will be too into it.

 

Would it be frowned upon to say there's some Balance and Composure feel to a lot of these songs? I immediately thought that when I heard Julia, but I think there's more than just that one. I wonder if Yip working with both had anything to do with that.

Specifically this song in regards to Julia. Back of Your Head also does a lot of the background screams the same way this does. Those are two of my favorite B&C songs though, so if I'm comparing MWY to them it's a great thing in my opinion.

 

Getting my CD's in the mail today, have only heard about half the EP and the 2 singles of the full album so I'm very excited to dive in.

I always feel bad going to shows and being anywhere other than the back of the room, I'm 6'7 so I hate knowing I'm ruining someone else's experience

 

That's a tough hand you've been dealt. I had no idea of your plight until I befriended a giant later in my life. He was almost reluctant to attend shows because of it which really blew my mind. Could not imagine.

 

I'm 6'3 and try to be mindful of that, but I also want to go crazy at the front of a show, so.

 

I am small for a guy. Barely 5’7. It’s always a struggle making sure I can see at a show. I’ve started standing further back as I can usually see over people due to the better angles.

 

I always gravitate towards the back of the room, too, but that's due to the fact that I don't care for crowds or being too close to people. I've actually stopped going to as many shows as I did in my younger years due to how uncomfortable they make me.

I'm also still waiting for my CD to arrive.

 

My usual place at a show, depending on the layout of the venue, is up against the front of the sound board, front of an upper balcony, and on very rare occasion, getting to the venue super early and being front and center in the pit.

I'm 6' 4", so I know I block the view, but I do want to be in the action sometimes. I'm also pushing 30, and don't feel like bothering with the barricade these days.
