That's a bold claim. I really like DQ XI but it doesn't do anything groundbreaking.

God Of War shows how much potential there is for the sequels, had a great story with interesting characters, and probably most importantly showed us how games can handle not having cutscenes.

A Wonderful Life on the Gamecube was very good, but it’s a little rough if you go back to it now. There’s still magic there though if you work through the pain.

I'm talking about my personal enjoyment though.
Not saying DQXI is the better game, but DQXI has been the most enjoyable game for me this year.

How important is it to play the other God of War games before jumping into the new one? I've only ever played a few hours of the first one.

It's not vital. It will add to the overall impact of a few things, but it's a very different games in a lot of ways and they did a good job of making this story feel mostly separate.

Ahh, that makes a lot of sense. This is my first real DQ game because I couldn't get into VII or VIII and I like it a lot. Riding the monsters is my favorite part.

It’s technically 6 games, not 9. 3 of them are just compilations of all the cutscenes from the 3 mobile games.

Still a great value for sure.

If I never played RDR, can I still understand and likely enjoy RDR2?

If I'm not mistaken, it takes place before the first one, so I don't think it should be a problem.

Edit: or maybe not. Honestly I don't remember the RDR story and I haven't been following what RDR2's story is going to be.

I deleted Smite again because I just can't take this toxic community anymore. The fact I am constantly reporting 2 people a game is just getting stupid.

paladins is an awful game that i hate because they took all the talented designers from Smite to use on there.

I forgot to mention they also did a bunch of UI changes to Smite that fit perfectly with being on a Switch and it sucks.

    the ui changes are awful.

I had a really good clan in D2. We kicked out anyone rude or toxic. We had this one guy who suddenly acted racist and that was uncomfortable. But we all kind of jumped shipped after the first DLC so now I have to rebuild from scratch.

    Toxic players are the worst

i switched to pc and this dude on overwatch kept messaging me that i was 'trolling' on Ana because i was still getting used to keyboard and mouse in ARCADE. look dude, no one decided to play healer and you're playing Doomfist who kept going LOS and over extending. kinda ruined my mood and i quit for the night lol. it's pretty tame to a lot of stuff on xbox but i was trying!!!

A massive fan of RDR here, and I think while it'd be nice to have some knowledge, it isn't totally necessary, being a prequel. Obviously you'll miss the nods to RDR, seeing as the protagonist from RDR is in your gang is this one, and they spoke of the leader of the gang a great deal. It isn't a super convoluted game with reams of lore though, like with a fantasy game. You can absolutely play it as a free-roam Western and enjoy the living shit out of it. It's a bloody huge game with a ridiculous amount to do and see. I say go for it.

I know I'd watch a video or read up, but you aren't going to be sat there stumped as to what's going on without. God of War 3 Remastered for example - it was free on PSN last month. I played through the entire of that with no knowledge of the first, but it was a fun time - and that plot is a hell of a lot more ridiculous than anything you'll find in RDR2.
