Apologies if I already posted this but the only YouTube channel I follow is Dead Meat and James has been counting down all the deaths lately in the Halloween franchise in anticipation for the new film

First weekend estimates have jumped to $60million.

 

I do not understand how box office estimates work at all. They can predict that 2 weeks before release date?

 

I always assumed it was tickets sold per hour after release. I’m sure there’s an algorithm for it that factors the sale speed into hype and how that translates into day of ticket sales as well as presale drop off rate. That said it’s been like 2 hours so I’m surprised by that.

 

It's actually first based on polls they do where they just ask people if they are going to see certain movies. Then they factor in advance sales afterwords. Tons of analytics. Crazy how accurate they are.

Speaking of. Its wild that they cut Venom to be PG-13 to help it make money and now its only projected 3 million over Halloween which is obviously R

 

Wonder what my wife would think if I brought this home and put it up in the basement.

at least in LA sometimes it comes down to wanting to get your fav seat at your fav theatre at you’re preferred time. Just about everywhere here is reserved seating these days which I’ve come to enjoy. Bummer is my buddy and my’s favorite theatre hasn’t put up the presale yet. :(
