It's nobody's battle but your own. Prestigious

I really haven't posted much in this thread since the album went live. Still digesting it.

I will say it feels like their whole discography has been building towards this record. It encapsulates everything that makes this band special. Truly a rewarding record for any fan of this band.

2 Flying Dutchmen with onions and chopped chilis between the patties. You get 4 patties for like $4

I love how it comes out of the gate swinging but then slowly mellows out a bit in the middle, only to come back with a vengeance before ending on a sombre and reflective tune. Big fan of the sequencing on this one.

Finally got an in-depth listen in. Lyrically this feels even more dense (and even neurotic at times) than Pale Horses. It feels more straight forward in terms of instruments, with Rickie being a tad more reigned in. It works really well even if I typically think MWY is best when Rickie is doing the heavy lifting. Really love the overall dirtiness of the guitar tones and it gets impressively massive throughout. This record is going to be great on a cold winter night.

lmao the few complaints I had with this album are already just completely disappearing. I don't know why I waste the brain space involved in doubting this band when they always come through better every single time

also I recommended this to my brother as his first mewithoutYou album, how crazy is he gonna think I am/10?

it's the slowburn build to that incredible guitar ending combined with to me the best lyrics on the album (and some of Aaron's best ever tbh) that stole the spot

in fairness I'm still having trouble liking Michael and Tortoises as much as most of my friends seem to be

I am just so in love with the way Aaron sets the scene in [dormouse sighs]. It's so damn cool. Probably my favorite lyrics oh the album atm

Where Rainbow Signs was the signifier of end times this album feels like the soundtrack to the apocalypse.

    I do not exist.

That's interesting - I always felt like Rainbow Signs was the sound of the apocalypse, especially with the lyrics. Not listened to the new album yet though!

I guess I just mean I feel like Rainbow Signs kicks it off and this would be the continuation of that. This is all conjecture but it's how the album makes me feel
