  1. Is the Carrie remake worth watching? My work has it and the original on blu-ray for $5. Thinking of picking them up for my horror podcast (launching this week!)

Also picking up Candyman for $5 this week.

Not really... as Chloe Grace Moretz is a terrific actress, she’s not believable as the type that would be bullied in school. Same goes for the Let The Right One In remake. Watching both of those made me appreciate the originals more.

  3. I actually love Let the Right One In haha

Franklin in the original TCM is a top five unlikable character in horror, change my mind.

They added Scream 2 to Starz so now all four are on there!

Also, I’m always expecting the Peaky Blinders to show up every time they play Red Right Hand in the first two lol

So fun fact, I did a podcast with the director of this with some friends like two years ago, never got to watch it. Two years later, it’s on Hulu. Please go check this out, the guy’s name is Matt Stuertz and he’s a STL native, damn proud of him.

I actually haven’t seen a good amount of these tbh. Id be interested in knowing what people consider their favorites from this list

  14. My not-so-obvious picks would be:

    - House of 1000 Corpses (just revisited and this one holds up)
    - AVP (it's...not great, but my friends and I loved it as kids)
    - Alien Covenant
    - The Fly II (it's better than you'd think)
    - Donnie Darko (one of my favorite movies in general)
    - The Amityville Horror remake (also not great, but one of the first horror movies that stuck with me as a teenager)
    - Strangers: Prey At Night
    - Halloween 4 (probably the last truly good Halloween movie imho)

The more obvious choices would be The Silence of the Lambs, American Psycho, The Blair Witch Project, Child's Play, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre II, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Return of the Living Dead, Halloween, and The Shining.

Glad to see the new Halloween getting solid reviews, now have that and the original to get excited about seeing at the cinema. Not going to be solely watching horror films this October due to non-horror films being released and the fact I am slowly getting through the Bond series but have a lot of films lined up. Got a sizeable list on the go for the month -

    Thinner
    Christine
    The Woman In Black 1 & 2
Child's Play Series (except for the first)
    The Sentinel
    The Greasy Strangler
    The Raven (1963)
    The Thing (2011)
    Friend Request
    The Shining
    Carnival of Souls
    Raw
    Rings
    The Wicker Man (1973)
    Frailty
    Tremors
    Needful Things
    Frogs
    Slugs
    I Saw The Devil
    Masque of the Red Death
    Killer Klowns From Outer Space
    Hellraiser
    The Brood
    The Love Witch
    House
    Demons
City of the Living Dead (aka The Gates of Hell)
    Hounds of Love
    Suspiria
    The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1978)
    Phantasm
    The Watcher in the Woods
    Psycho 2
    Psycho 3
    The Strangers
    The Strangers: Prey at Night
    Peeping Tom

I know haha but luckily horror films are typically only around the 90 minute mark and thanks, been compiling it for the past week searching through various formats.

Which platform did you find the greasy strangler on? I haven’t exactly searched myself haha. I just remember the reception and I’m curious to see it myself.

Oh that is one of many I found on something we have in the UK which is Sky Digital, basically a load of channels and that was on one called Film4 which I doubt you will find in the US. I also use Amazon Prime, NowTV and Cinema Paradiso.

I personally really enjoy both of them. I love Let the Right One In, but Let Me In was a really great American remake that I still feel portrays the nuances of the story really well. and the cinematography is stunning. I think they're both great and that way people can either enjoy both or if they aren't a fan of foreign films they have a really well done version to enjoy as well.

Starz also just added a lot of the classic Universal monster movies if anyone is interested in those! They have a surprisingly great horror selection, it made me glad I forgot to cancel my membership after catching up on Outlander, haha.

Honestly Starz in general has one of my favorite premium movie libraries. I find great stuff on there all the time. Showtime's is probably the worst.
