Holy shit. Completely forgot about Our Last Night. Their first album showed so much promise. They were like really young when that came out iirc

 

Yeah! The screamer was in middle school/early high school and the rest of the band was around 16. The Ghosts Among Us showed so much promise and the album before that, Building Cities from Scratch, was really good too though it was before they were signed so it’s probably impossible to find now. So many good memories between 8th-11th grade with their music.

 

Praise YouTube. The screams definitely haven’t held up, especially on the first song, but holy nostalgia.

I honestly still like the screams on TGAU. Not cause they are good necessarily, but they really work for that time period. Like, I wouldn't want those songs with better vocals, if that makes sense

 

I completely agree. I think the clean vocals still hold up, they’re not crazy overproduced and whiney like others of the period. The dude could flat out play guitar too.

I've been seeing this girl for just under a month and I think she's fantastic. I've been doing the tinder/hinge/okc thing in Brooklyn now for about 2 years and this is only like the second person that I feel like I've really clicked with. So much of NYC dating culture is predicated around bars and drinking and part of what I like about this situation is that we've never needed that. It's refreshing! We've stayed over at one another's apartments a few times now and before I left for a 6 day family trip she packed me a quick breakfast for the cab ride to the airport and insisted I leave my sweater for her while I was away

Thing is though, on our first date she mentioned (after I asked what she was looking for) that she'd been seeing this guy for the past month who was non-committal and didn't want to stop dating around. She then said that well, okay, despite very much wanting something monogamous, she would continue to date other people as well. It *sounded* like that was still a thing that was going on and that I was the "other people". Since it's been about a month and I, too very much want something monogamous, I'm wondering when the best time is to bring that all up again. I really really like her and I would love for it to continue. It's just been so long since I've been at this stage of this kind of thing and I feel way in over my head

 

As tough as it is I'd bring it up asap! You def wanna have that kinda talk and make sure you're both on the same page and wanting the same kind of relationship before you develop even more feelings.

 

It's so weird seeing friends who got married young and now divorcing going thru their messy stages. I guess I thought everyone got over that posting subtweets and things about fake people and loyalty and realness at like 19 but now all of my divorcing friends are going thru it and it's v interesting and also they will prob be embarrassed in a few years but what's life without looking back and cringing so go awf.

 

Yeah I'm currently at the stage where some of the people I went to high school, mostly the religious and/or dumb, are married, I've never thought about the inevitable divorce subtweets lmao

Listening to my mom and her husband talk on the phone is so maddening omfg like it's always so boring and small talk that is meaningless and pointless and doesn't matter and I legit wanna scream every time. Please gawd like I am a boring person but please never let me become this boring if I ever get married. They just mumble about the most who cares stuff. Like they talk just to talk but don't actually say anything. I cannot. I've had more interesting phone conversations calling my credit card company.

 

The whole hinge “dealbreaker” thing is wonderful. Set my desired height as 5’11”-6’4” and it’s great.
