If we’re going to steer into the reception of
the films (which are highly subjective and isn’t fully on the producers) then let’s look at Feige. MCU films, especially phase 3 which started right after TFA released, has had a very good reception from casual audience. Even if we go by critics the lowest phase 3 MCU film is GOTG 2 with 83% on RT, opposed to Solo which is 70%. So with that Feige has produced 7 films in 2 years that have not been good to great by the audience by also by critics. With the rise in box office numbers it’s also suggestive that on average that cmb films produced by Feige have made more money than cbm not made by Feige which either shows for the quality of the films or the trust the audience has in his films.

This isn’t to say Kennedy isn’t a great producer, I just think people are downplaying on how difficult of a job Feige has been able to pull off and highly succeeded in.

Feige has done a great job too. I think that debate is about personal preference more than anything else. I was just mentioning her successes because they’re sometimes forgotten when the discussion of should she still run Lucasfilm comes up.

Kathleen Kennedy is responsible, as producer, for many of the great moments and progression of science fiction in film.

Kevin Feige is responsible, as president, of many of the great moments and progression of comic book films and shared universes.

I can’t compare the two of them that much other than that they are both relevant. I will say that they are both better than James Cameron and I hope that one day a Kennedy or Feige film knocks out Titanic or Avatar.

  5. “Star Wars” is great but Kennedy worked on a “Back to the Future” so that’s a win for me, if we’re picking sides.

I still haven’t watched the third BTTF. Snippets have made me think it has a major western vibe and I’m not really into that unless Eastwood is involved. I also haven’t watched the first two films in years. I may watch the entire trilogy in one weekend this semester.

    It's an action/comedy, so it's not really a western. It's a must watch.

  10. Then you should ABSOLUTLEY watch it. Eastwood isn’t exactly in it but you’ll appreciate it. I actually think it’s better than part II but I’m very in the minority.

Take this with a grain of salt since they are rumors, but fun to think about for the live action tv show

“Since September I have heard that Dave Filoni is directing two episodes of the first season of the live action Star Wars television series written and produced by Jon Favreau. Some sources believe Filoni is directing the first episode of the show (and a Marvel Cinematic Universe alum is said to be involved too). I’ve been told there’s five directors in total for season one and three are directing two episodes.”

Well I meant to post in the catch all thread but I’ll keep it here anyway

In addition to that Dominic Monaghan interview, there’s now this new one with Richard E Grant.
