Not that I think STYG or TBDM are huge or anything but is Hollywood Undead really that much more popular than them? What even was their last big hit?

I think they are bigger there than they are here, I remember seeing their name very high on some of the European festivals and being surprised.

I’m really really wanting Self Help to take the summer festival spot with like 2 or 3 stages with a lineup somewhat like this.
    A Day To Remember.
    Pierce the Veil.
    Beartooth.
    Neck Deep.
    Dance Gavin Dance.
    Motionless In White.
    Mayday Parade.
    State Champs.
    Silverstein.
    Architects.
    Northlane.
    Movements.
    Fit For A King.
    Nothing.Nowhere.
    Slaves.
    The Word Alive.
    Chase Atlantic.
    Fever 333.
    The Plot In You.
    Picturesque.
    Thousand Below.
    ALAZKA.

I love Old Wounds, I might have to make the trip to San Antonio for that tour. I heard a ton of good things about SeeYouSpaceCowboy too.

Did anyone go to self help fest in Detroit this weekend? I heard it was a disaster

I heard that as well... sort of waiting to hear more.

Also the venue has deleted comments regarding to whatever went wrong. Limp Bizkit played a really short set too.

Dashboard Confessional jumped off the Summer Ever After tour due to Chris' family issues.

It sounds like someone in his immediate family is extremely ill. Really hoping things get better for Chris soon

I went and I had a pretty good time. This might get a little long winded, but to understand it, it takes a little explanation.

I bought the standard VIP ticket for the early entry, since last year, the venue was supposed to open its doors at 2:00, but security staff was taking FOREVER to let people inside. I got there at 2:00 last year, and didn't get in until about 3:45. The Plot in You said they played to a practically empty arena of about 100 people. The venue sold about 8-10,000.

This year, I got there at about 1:00, as recommended by the staff, and got in a little before 2:00. The problem was that they switched things up this year. Last year, Self Help brought their own Main Stage, which was out in a grassy area of the park, and the amphitheater was used as a side stage for a few bands (Sylar, The Plot in You, Moose Blood, Of Mice & Men). This year, at first, they advertised it the same way, where standard GA was $50, and VIP was going to have a special section, like a riser or something (or at least that's what I assumed). The tour was originally supposed to announce another few bands separate from the first wave (+MORE TBA).

However, I'm guessing that because the festival wasn't selling well enough to justify it, so they moved everything inside the amphitheater and put it all on one stage, and switched it up. Now, only VIP could access the pit, and the standard GA ticket allowed you to access the seats in the amphitheater, and they added a $30 lawn ticket less than a week before. A lot of people didn't realize this until they were inside. So, because of that, Sylar, Turnstile, and Knocked Loose played to pretty much dead crowds in front of them. Me and three of my friends were the only ones singing along to Turnstile, and probably 15-20 people in the pit were actively participating for Knocked Loose.

When all was said and done, the pit was completely full by the time Asking Alexandria played, seats were about 50-75% full, and the lawn was virtually empty. Limp Bizkit's crowd was really good and a lot of fun - Fred came into the crowd and did a lot of the set from out there, but the rest of the day was hit or miss. I still had a lot of fun, but I realize that it was because I bought VIP. If I'd been duped into GA seating, I'd have been pretty disappointed.

I know it doesn’t necessarily serve a point but for discussion sake, so rock allegiance is this weekend (another big DwP rock fest) and they have decided to have Beartooth and Knocked Loose play at the same time. There are a ton of people livid as for many are the two bands they are going to see. I feel bad, I hope they change this for people’s sake. I don’t know why fears do this. Bands essentially with the same fan bases within the same genre playing at the same time when there are so many other options.

I mean it's basically the small number of mainstream metalcore bands. I don't expect After The Burial to be going on tour with Shinedown anytime soon.

This fest has been a mess so far this year. Its been very poor planning with everything since the headlinner dropped. Im guessing this is its last year. I was thinking about going but those are the only two bands i wanted to see and they overlap.

Labeling Asking Alexandria "metalcore" these days is a stretch.
