I'm a huge fan of dream logic too which is part of why it's disappointing to me, I just don't think the things they're doing are that interesting or even entertaining. The show hasn't really lived up to it's full potential to me yet.

I believe episode five is the one that really, really sold me on how much I loved it. I can't read a plot synopsis at work, but I'm pretty sure that's one where they share a dream together in an old mansion and it was filled to the brim with dream logic, interesting character reveals and turns, and just a dreamy foggy vibe throughout the whole thing.

I need to watch all of this again.

Like, just the weird capsule/container thing that Emma Stone's dad spent time in. The fact that that object exists thrilled me.

  5. Ya other than maybe BoJack and Mindhunter, Maniac is my favorite thing Netflix has produced.

  6. Bojack is probably my favorite Netflix show. Second would be Master of None but then the Aziz stuff came out and I'll never watch it again. But Maniac is definitely up in the top five for me.

Bojack, American Vandal, Atypical. I'm partial to Netflix's comedies.

I haven't see it yet, but Maniac is next on my list.

I love comedies but shows or movies like Maniac are a different category altogether and when they're done well, the best comedies can't really compete in my mind.

  9. I watched the first two episodes of Maniac and thought the tone was all over the place and it felt like they were trying to do waaay too much. I will probably finish it and see if it pays off but I'm not sold yet

I decided to try the pilot of Hilda. I really like it and plan on finishing the season later. Only 13 episodes and each is 22 mins. People are comparing it to Studio Ghibli and Steven Universe and I can see that.

The Land of Steady Habits was a tough watch, but a good movie. Ben Mendelsohn's performance was the highlight for me. 7.5/10

There's an Alamo Drafthouse near me that's doing a showing next Tuesday, can't wait to see it in a theater.

What have you watched so far this year?

The Shining rules. Some genuinely great emotional scenes.

  19. Just 2001 and Full Metal Jacket. By the end of the year I want to add in The Shining, Strangelove, and Eyes Wide Shut.

    run away with me Platinum

I've only seen Strangelove and 2001 haha, always hard for me to remember to see old movies when there's always new movies to see, plus I have to be in the right mood and allot enough time

Those five range from 'pretty good' to 'masterpiece from a genius' to me, so that's a pretty great list.

2001 is just something else, man.

I watched everything I hadn't seen from Kubrick last year. It was a good time.
