Eh. It's a perspective thing. Just based on popularity, I'd expect someone who'd be into Foxing to be a little more on the up and up about the tertiary stuff that's going on in the music scene with artists like Brand New than someone who's into the higher level bands that are beloved on this site like Thrice and Taking Back Sunday. It's definitely a false equivalence type thing now that I've thought about it a bit more and had my caffeine for the day considering how easy it is to get into artists through outlets like Spotify and Youtube if you just put a playlist on. My bad.

There’s so many people I know that love or loved Brand New that aren’t as online as I am that didn’t know about Jesse Lacey’s behavior. I don’t think the news penetrated the bubble as much as people think it did.

Yeahhhhh just anecdotally I have a group of friends that saw foxing in St. Louis a few days ago that would have no idea about the brand new stuff. Actually one of them didn’t know and I told them a couple weeks ago, they had no clue. I just find that to be a leap and a half to assume if you’re at a foxing show you know what Jesse Lacey did

I saw Foxing and I know nothing about anything like I know about brand new I guess cause I come here, but like if someone assumed I knew stuff about the comings and goings of the music community just cause I listen to Foxing they'd be super wrong. Like idek anything about Foxing i mean aside from their music idk what their deal is whatsoever. I try to stay up on things by coming here but if I didn't I'd know even less than I do now. Which is already little oop. So I can def see someone who just casually gets into things or who rly likes the music but doesn't follow anything outside of that. Tho if someone does know and wears the shirts anyway they are def sus. I'd hope if they didn't know and someone informed them they'd research and change their mind about wearing it.

Oh I think there are 100% people who know the stuff and still wear shirts. That’s just not an assumption I’d make without talking to them first, otherwise you’re just getting mad at someone you don’t know over your own assumptions which doesn’t seem healthy

at the same time it’s reasonabke to be mad that Jesse and co. seem to have been able to skate by without the information becoming more widely known though

  10. I would probably be completely oblivious to a lot of this kind of stuff if I didn't visit this site.

Yeah I saw someone walking around in a B N shirt a few months ago and it definitely felt awkward and weird but I wasn't necessarily mad

The instinct to feel that way when you see that band name is totally understandable for sure

This isn't really the same but I am really sad that my $60 Saint Pablo tour shirt has been relegated to t-shirt around the house status.

Wearing something like a brand new or anything in a similar vein is a approach with caution situation because there’s a good mix of completely unknowing people and people who knows and are being weird about it. There’s a good chance there’s nothing bad going on but I don’t wanna be in too deep if there is something fishy with that person. It’s like...a pink flag not a red one

I only recently threw away my lostprophets tshirts but have never worn them, not even around the house, since 2012. I just dumped them at a textile recycling bin, thought about giving them to a charity shop or to a clothing bank but don't want a poor unaware person to be wearing it without knowing

I have a few brand new shirts to throw away. I’m not gonna lie it’s pretty hard to let go of little things like that sometimes. I’ve cut their music out of rotation entirely but idk. When I see those shirts in my unworn clothes pile I get upset at how much of my adolescence and young adulthood I spent worshipping him. But I also miss those blissfully unaware days when I could still let their music mean something to me. Those days are over and those memories will never be the same and it bums me out. Not to mention the fucking tattoo on my chest I have to look at every day. I don’t like making it about me because there are people affected by it in such worse ways. But I’ve still never felt that kind of betrayal from a musical idol and I hope I never ever go through it again to this degree

It is hard. Don't rush throwing them away if you don't feel up to it but you can put them in a box so you don't have to see them until the initial feeling blows over. It took me six whole ass years to throw my tshirts away like god damn lol. objects feel most important in those circumstances. it sucks.

Makes me remember I accidentally gave my pinegrove tshirt to a charity shop so I betrayed my own doctrine on this fucking rip

  21. Thank you for posting this. You reminded me that I still have some of their CDs, posters, and magazine covers that I need to find and throw away once I'm moving out of my parents' house. I don't know why I kept them after all this time, perhaps it brought me too much anxiety to look at them again? Either way, I'll have to do something about it quickly to be in peace with myself. I threw away the tshirt of a band whose one member was creepy towards me on social media, so that's a start I guess.

Yeah I feel this. My girlfriend spent weeks hand painting these absolutely beautiful Déjà Entendu themed shoes for my birthday last year. It was a very sad and uncomfortable conversation when she asked why I don’t wear them anymore :-|
