Here's a rundown for the people who were asking/are confused, I hope it helps :

The Pitchfork article either lied or misconstrued the facts, or revealed information that the victim was unaware of prior to it. Consequently the victim is not okay with the band's comeback, the state of ESH's rehabilitation, and the article itself. They are encouraging their friends and acquaintances to challenge the narrative set by the band and Pitchfork.
This whole thing is going against the affected person's wishes and glorifying a redemption arc for an abuser who has not actually reckoned with his faults. A lot of bands in the scene who have been in contact with ESH have also pushed back against the comeback : the community is rejecting the reintegration, so obviously they don't think the rehabilitation was done properly. This means both prerequisites to restorative justice, aka the voice of the victim being heard and the voice of the community being accounted for, are not being filled.

If this makes you question if abusers can be rehabilitated at all : here's a tweet that sums up the problem with ESH's discourse and the comeback

whole situation reeks. This could have been a (productive? weird word I guess here) example of how to proceed with these things. I mean that in the sense of allowing people to more clearly navigate these issues because we all know it's very murky right now. But now the only thing that's clear is some things are very out of place and there seems to be a very intentional agenda to mislead people which makes it even that much harder to trust any kind of accountability process in the future. I think at this point it's up to the more influential music community to continue voicing their lack of support for PG, otherwise this will just be washed over and I don't see any other way of dealing with this. I say that because we're in a bit of niche here, I know most people don't look that deeply into these things, and even worse might just read a P4K article and assume all is well. I guess I'm at a point of "I don't like this, but now what".

    Newbie

You're basing this on a singular tweet? If this is truly the case, then someone in her camp needs to actually go ahead and say something.

You can't read the full extent of intent into how this has been handled. Again, some of you just need to admit that you don't actually want people to get better.

What does this even fucking mean? Apparently, according to twitter, they can't? Should we round them up and gas them, or...?

You guys shit on leerkat when they’re blut. You shit on them when they make an effort. They’ve basically been explicit in saying they know of another victim. What more do you want?

I’m not basing this on a singular tweet, I’m basing it off numerous tweets from numerous parties who are close to the victim, as well as firsthand stuff which out of respect for the persons wishes to remain anonymous I will not elaborate on.

I’m going to say something that may shock you : you aren’t owed details. You aren’t owed a story. You aren’t owed excruciating proof, you aren’t owed a statement from this person. You should trust the people around them rather than some random biased article.

I have no problem with people continuing to listen the band and being conflicted or confused or frustrated. Up until leerkat confirmed they meant a different person and the guy on Twitter confirmed he spoke with the survivor that day, I was with you. I don't really have a problem with someone listening to the record, either.

What I do find frustrating are people who are still pushing against people speaking out, questioning them and asking for more information. If you take the time to read this thread and read what people close to the survivor are saying, you should understand that basically they don't want anyone going off explicitly about the situation or causing a scene, but they are okay with people challenging the narrative of the p4k piece, which is why we're seeing such vague, angry Tweets. I'd be incredibly frustrated too if I were close to the survivor and saw how most people are reacting to the p4k article.

You're not a bad person for continuing to listen to the band. I'd just ask that you stop fighting for ESH/PG if many people related to the survivor are basically saying they aren't okay with this redemption arc.

Can we make a separate thread to talk about the music and another to talk about the accusations?

I feel like people picked their viewpoint. For me, I get he did a shitty thing. But if that disqualified me from enjoying art, there'd be a lot I'd never experience. I do think there are dealbreakers, but I can't judge that from the information I have. I'm listening to the album, I enjoy it.
