Thanks for the heads up. Will definitely avoid all mentions of him from now on. Is it like a personality trait or a look? Surprised theyd have anything that important/spoilery in there

I love Feige and as far as cinematic universes go, hes the GOAT because really hes only been one of maybe few to actually accomplish it, but hes only been a producer for 18 years, all of his productions are in one sub-genre, and many of his MCU movies are received with a lot of mehs by the general movie-going audience. Conversely, Kennedy has been a producer for almost 40 years and has produced numerous amounts of classics in a lot of different genres.

With the original creators being involved and mentioning how each nation will be representing appropriately to the culture they are based on, I think the world will be more diverse and we’ll get stories that explore those as long as the first adaptation is received well. Wow, the thought of a universe of TLA makes me excited now that you mention it.

It has to do with him as a whole. It might not be that big of a deal depending on how Abrams treats it in but if you’re wanting to go in blind then I would avoid it. If I go anymore specific it could reveal it.

So many weird narratives around KK, I wonder why... the only people who have said she was leaving in September was Harloff, The Ankler newsletter, and crazy youtubers. I love how Grace Randolph or whatever her name is, heard from her sources a few months ago that KK would be fired/leaving and surprise surprise she was wrong so now she is pushing the narrative that no one would take that job at Lucasfilm so that’s why she has to stay. Are you kidding me lol
There are so many qualified people who already work at Lucasfilm who could step in if KK was doing such a bad job here. Feige as the goat, I’m sorry but no ha

Anyway, Adam Driver is on SNL tonight!

I'll just refer you to Greg's reply because that's how your post came across to me as well. We can leave it at that.

I don’t think it’s much of a spoiler at all given TLJ and considering that if it was going to be a plot point in any way, Lucasfilm and the story group wouldn’t have let it come up here over a year before the movie.

When you say “first adaptation” do you mean how they are basically recreating the animated series plot and everything and then if that works they’ll deviate and make more in that universe with new characters? I guess I’m unsure of the plan and if they are really just plan on going brought the entire Sozins comet arc because that would take a long time.

If it’s just that he’s the leader now I don’t think that’s that big of a spoiler. That was basically my interpretation at the end of TLJ. There’s like 20 people in the Rebellion and Leia clearly handed the baton with the “what are you looking at me for.” Plus with Carrie gone i mean they wouldn’t introduce another character to be leader. The opening crawl will probably mention “General Dameron” or something. Anything else and i wouldn’t want to know though

  11. So he could say, "uh, yeah, she's way fucking better than me, have you seen her list of movies?"

  12. What? Extending a contract is just basic stuff. She's the president of Lucasfilm.

  13. Come on, this reads so massively condescending.

I'd be willing to bet she had the leverage in the contract negotiation. She let Disney give her a shit ton of money for her services for three more years.

He’s humble so I could see him saying that. Kathleen does have a good list of films under her belt, but while being at lucasfilm, 2/4 of the Star Wars films have had to go under heavy reshoots and one had to get a new director while in the middle of production. Feige has orchastrated his film universe so will it’s changed how some studios approach their franchises and none have done it so well.

    Edited in more thoughts

  15. He's also not an idiot and knows it's true.

  16. You know Marvel movies have had reshoots and director issues too ... right?

(And a bunch of the movies are mediocre to bad.)

Name me a marvel film produced by Kevin feige that had to go through a lengthy reshoot or when a director was fired mid production. I can’t think of any. The only thing remotely close would be Wright leaving Ant-Man before filming which isn’t in the same ball park as directors getting fired 2/3 into filming.

The second part of your quote is subjective. I like the films, but you’d have to be naive to think some don’t view some of the new star wars films as “mediocre or bad”.

  18. They just fired Gunn 2/3 of the way through a trilogy to appease the Alt right, but yeah ok. And so many of the movies went through reshoots.

And they fired Wright! That’s insane. And then made a boring movie.

I didn’t say differently. I said her list of movies is way fucking better than the marvel movies.

I’m assuming the Netflix series will be a condensed version of the show. They could split it in 3 seasons like the show did and in that case my comment would be repositioned that after the first season, I could see a spin off start to make its way into serious discussions.

  20. That you don’t see how the way you’re framing it is ridiculous and condescending and wrong is beyond me. That you can type “Failed to meet expectations” and “a proper replacement” with a straight face is too much.

Firing Gunn prior to production beginning is different than firing a pair of directors in the middle of a shoot after already spending millions on scenes they had shot. I’m pretty sure Wright left on his own terms due to creative differences.

Also firing Gunn was Disney. Feige had no control in it.

I think it’s worth noting that all of the Disney Star Wars movies have been good to great in the eyes of most people despite any issues they had behind the scenes, which is honestly the whole purpose of making them. It’s her job to put out good movies that people want to watch and in the end she’s 4/4 in that department.
