they'd log on, questions would flood in, but they'd only answer one question:

reddituser418-What is the chorus to Degausser?
    JesseLacey-
VinReplacesTheEdge-sorry, Jesse had to run some errands, but I sing, "I've been degaussed" if that helps.

Thinking about it today, I think I might like Deja more than TDAG, I just feel like the production on that albums holds it back so much. Whoever produced that album needs a new career, and whoever produced TDAG should be at the top of their field if they aren't already. TDAG is one of the best sounding (production wise) records I've ever heard.

Pretty sure Mike Sapone engineered all of their records. Though, I do agree that there is a production quality on Deja that grates me.

Maybe they had different engineers/mixers on different records. I had no idea they stuck with the same producer though. Maybe he really did just get a billion times better at the engineering side of production between Deja and TDAG too, if that's the case, that's impressive growth and it's cool that he improved himself so much.

Steven Haigler produced Deja except for "Play Crack the Sky," which was done by Sapone. The production on Deja does fall flat sometimes.

Noro is good. TDAG and Daisy both have top notch production, and YFW isn't bad on the production side, so I've always thought it was strange how Deja sounded.

... and as I typed this the explanation was given. Haha Thank you @owenlongsworth I saw the co producer thing on Wikipedia but figured it was still primarily Sapone. Thanks for clarifying!

I've only done it once on here. I've been entertained by the train wrecks this thread turns into lately though. I've never been more shocked than when Jason mentioned people sending blood to Brand New. Hahah

It might be the guitar tones for me. It's something that they really developed and honed in on records after Deja. Don't get me wrong, great song writing on Deja. Those songs speak volumes, but I can't help but nitpick the mix of Deja which turns me off if I really think of it enough. Like someone said before, Your Favorite Weapon doesn't even bother me when I think of the mix.
Devil and God was such a realized sound, that now I love hearing the Deja songs live because they sound so much more abrasive.

This might be unfounded, but they may have still been using telecasters and double cut away les pauls during the Deja era, which was a decent set up. When they started using jazzmasters and cyclones, utilizing noise and shit and being abrasive af, even with how Jesse sings live, it was over!
