Decided to check out Delirium. Quite a few jumps scares, and an okay but relatively predictable story. Also, Topher Grace hasn't aged in at least a decade.

So I rewatched The Village, actually appreciated the overall story more. Obviously Roger Deakins cinematography is always welcome. I think maybe I had just grown tired of the twists at the time it came out, idk.

Also watched Let Me in last night. I lovvve Let the Right One In, but I thought this was actually a really well done remake. Beautifully shot, well acted. doesn't over do things too much. Well done Matt Reeves. Stoked for his The Batman between this and his Apes movies.

I always really liked The Village and appreciated the twist. Never understood why it got so much hate when it came out

I read the novel Running Out of Time when I was younger so the twist in The Village bothered me.

I avoided The Village for a while cuz a friend at college hated it, kept saying people were pissed off when they were leaving the theater.

I never heard anything but hate for The Village until years after it came out. When I finally saw it I liked it though.

I feel like it has that cult following now, cause most of the time I've heard it brought up now people are like "underrated film". so for whatever hate it had it seems to be appreciated now.

If we're talking about Night... I never got the appeal of Unbreakable as one of his better films (though it's not really horror)

Never did see Unbreakable. But I've been planning on watching The Sixth Sense with my daughter soon

  12. I watched Season of the Witch last night for the first time, and other than the music and the "missfire" scene, it was real bad.

really? I enjoyed it. It leans into a bit more sci-fi horror, but I like it. I always wonder what it would've been like if that was the second Halloween and it continued in the anthology direction Carpenter wanted.

  15. I think it's a cool concept, but I just didn't like the execution I guess. I hated the protagonist too haha.

Totally thought people were talking about the Cage film that is universally hated and was so confused

the first time I watched the wicker man with Nic Cage I played a drinking game made for it, I can’t remember all the rules but you definitely had to drink any time his character yelled
    I got extremely drunk

If I’m not mistaken, I believe a majority of the issues with The Village is that it’s marketing portrayed it as a very different type of film. I liked it, but I think MNS has done better.

I kinda think that twists of this sort in movies around that time weren’t loved. I’d bet if he released it now people would love it.

Yea, they advertised it a creature in the woods, “scariest movie of the decade” type of thing. Definitely not what it actually was haha. I loved the movie.

The Village is a solid movie in hindsight, it’s main theme resonates loudly in our modern era. It was M. Night’s last good movie until Split.
