Damn, have people never read journalism with narrative before?

And he wouldn’t be wrong, it’s a good article, but I don’t consider those the same thing

No, and the only person in the article who seemed to say they supported his return without a stake in said return happening stated they were being misrepresented or didn’t speak clearly enough.

I came down pretty warm on this article until I realized how everyone who knows more about than I do feels

They said abusers need to disappear in order for victims to heal, seems pretty clear to me.

This seems to be a case where nuance and context are very important to analyze. Given how we have developed such an us vs them mindset as a society, deciphering this all the more complicated for many (including me). We don't really have set "rules" on what is the most optimal way to go about these things and I honestly don't think we ever will since every case is its own entity. Just some thoughts.

The timing of what, exactly? The article or the fact that the album is coming out so soon after the article?

It's so weird because a lot of these takes have merit and I think people should be entitled to feel that way but it's also upsetting that even going through all the proper steps to address a problem, work through the issues to try and become a better person and ultimately make amends with the person wronged is still not enough / met with pure cynicism (in turn making me a cynic, thinking some of these responses I'm seeing aren't genuine and more of a "fuck this person, we are better people than him and I need to make sure everyone knows it")

Fuck if I know. Trying to work out how I should feel, rambling n' shit

I have my own standards, but someone else might have the standard of completely writing off someone when something like this happens. That’s okay.

It’s also bad timing re: my current absolute zero tolerance for abuse of any kind due to current political situations. Not that that’s ever in question, it’s just particularly hard and on the mind in a big way this week.

  14. just want to remind anyone reading this that it's very okay to not have a concrete on opinion on this right out of the gate, that there are a lot of complications at hand and that you shouldn't feel the need to immediately pop off with an opinion if you're still working through your feelings (I totally am)

minor edit: re-reading this, I feel like it can come off as passive-aggression or side-eyeing posts in here which is definitely not my intention, just sharing my own thoughts

    I'm not brave Prestigious

I never really listened to this band that much to begin with, but my personal take is I’d probably be fine with listening to the new album at this point. I think this situation was handled with much more sensitivity and care than so many others we’ve seen, and Evan seems to have taken genuine steps to make amends and change. Some are saying there’s more information that isn’t public... and frankly the only response I can have to that is that I can only go off of what I know, and what I know about this situation is whatever has (unfortunately) become public knowledge. I don’t begrudge anyone who disagrees with me and definitely think this is a lot to work through, and not everyone is going to agree.

Hi, I don’t post on here much but I lurk.
I just wanted to say my thoughts on everything. I’ve been on both sides of this situation. I was an absolutely terrible human being who hurt a multitude of people when I was younger. I should’ve never been forgiven for the things I did, but somehow, my family and friends supported me. I worked through everything, from many rehab stints to ECT. I look at who I once was and get physically ill. But I changed. And I like to think people can change. This situation is still very vague in detail, but it seems like he’s been doing the best he can to rectify and all damages. It won’t erase what he did, but we should all encourage people to be better versions of themselves. If I didn’t have the support of my peers, I would be dead. I am grateful for forgiveness, even when I didn’t deserve it.

On the other side of the situation, I was sexually assaulted. And I don’t really know how I’m supposed to feel, because it seems if I don’t feel a certain way, I’m wrong. But I do think people deserve second chances, and shouldn’t be eternally condemned. Again we don’t have much detail about what exactly happened, but, these are my thoughts.

It’s entirely possible that instead of anyone “missing” something, there’s just different conclusions being drawn by different people and that’s okay

I will take the opposite end of the spectrum here, as I only really started to listen to Pinegrove the more I heard them constantly talked about on this site - I enjoy his writing a lot and am greatly looking forward to this album.

havnt really seen anyone acknowledge Nandi's bit in the article - a woman very close to Evan

"Plunkett made her support of her bandmate clear: “I do not think Evan is at all a threat to young women attending shows,” she wrote via email. Plunkett added that she has had “many productive conversations privately” about the allegations against Hall, but said it has felt “daunting” to speak in public. “Still, I’m hopeful that the space is beginning to open up for these challenging conversations,” she said. “I want any young female fans and fellow musicians to know that I’m fighting for them. I’ve dealt with a lot of challenges as a multiracial woman and I’ve been thrust now into the middle of a situation that I never imagined I’d be a part of. But I’m learning a lot from it, having tough conversations and pushing myself and those around me to dismantle the structures of privilege that have built and bound us. In order to grow into a more loving and understanding community, we have to work towards healing through sensitive and open communication. And that’s what we’re trying to do.”"

I think we’re getting into weird territory when it’s like. Well, THIS person had THIS take, and THEYRE a woman, or whatever, using other people’s identities as a shield for your own views. Like I know that’s far from anyone’s intent but it kind of comes across that way.

Think about what you sound like
