Someone claimed to be a member of a band I have never heard of and was being a bit of a dick to another member. Apparently Jason has tracked it to me. I'm not sure how though, as it genuinely wasn't me?

Like, it's genuinely confusing me as to what is going on here...

  3. Uh, no, it was you. When you create an account a cookie is created to help avoid spam. When you approve the account from an email link we send, we analyze that against the pre-set cookies from other accounts to make sure people aren't spam bots. You logged in on the same computer using both accounts. It's right there in the logs.

I personally haven't heard the band, but they have 447k monthly listeners on Spotify. I'm not sure who to compare them to, but bands like Every Time I Die and Circa Survive have way less than that.

Well I 100% didn't. Like honestly, I have been on this forum for a long time, I would admit if it was me, but it 100% wasn't.

I'm not even mad, I'm just confused because it wasn't me.

    I'm fighting a losing battle but I won't admit to something I didn't do.

  6. Neither of those bands are "VERY big" either.

  7. One of Moose Blood's albums debuted at #10 on the UK sales chart while it hit #175 in the US. They're definitely bigger there than they are here, but the most recent record flopped regardless. I think it's safe to say they're on the downswing and they were never as big as say, Bring Me The Horizon or The 1975 are currently.

  8. Well, someone using your computer did it or someone else has your password. Because the computer that logged in on that account has only ever logged in under one other account ... yours. Cookies set during registration match, session logs match, IPs match.

the venues moose blood headline in the uk are similar to what the wonders years / mayday tour is doing just for reference to their popularity

They're not a band that would be on my radar but also it's irrelevant to the abuse aspect

  13. They definitely are great for when people try and go "it wasn't me" and I can state with certainty ... uh, yeah, it was absolutely your computer. Also, for the record, a VPN still uses an IP address, of which there are, um, a lot ... so, to have a collision on this specific site with the same IP address would be rare just by itself. But, that's why I don't just use IP address verification to track spam/duplicate accounts. It's why we use cookies and a variety of other things that I don't talk about because I don't want it to be easy to make fake accounts and avoid detection. If an account logs in using the same computer as another, it's cataloged.

I’m curious about this as well, because as far as I know, the victim hasn’t backed down at all.

I also hate that they never address shit directly against eddy, they always throw the former drummer card in there as a bullshit scapegoat.

Anyway, yes, moose blood were making hopeless at least some money because a lot of teenagers actually go to their shows and buy their merch in the UK. Teenagers also notoriously don't buy music, they stream it. The revenue mostly comes from hoodies and the reputation they built as an "emo" band which targets the same audience as neck deep, all time low, panic at the disco and all these bands of intermediate edginess.
