Now I'm curious-- what is the longest rap album you all have heard? Speakerboxxx/The Love Below is too obvious an answer so that doesn't count

 

Probably All Eyez On Me? I feel like Life After Death is shorter. It feels shorter anyway. Don’t know about Wu-Tang Forever.

 

Long albums are generally bad and much harder to do well. If you’re getting to 80+ I’m probably passing.

Imagine judging an album on how long or short it is.

 

If it's too long to enjoy in one go I think the complaint is valid. That doesn't mean the music isn't good, but an album is more than a collection of songs. Unless of course it is actually that, like all these pop rap albums are now.

 

If an album keeps me interested for over an hour then I consider it a very good album lol

I did back in the day and it was a mistake haha. Some gems in there for sure though.

 

Yeah I agree, most long albums have at least a couple of duds. But if a long album is consistent throughout, then I'd rate it above a short album of the same quality no question.

That's fine, but at least give it a shot. Think I saw people say they weren't going to listen to it based on how long it was.

 

I won't skip an album because of how long it is, but I'll put off listening to it, because I want to make time for the whole album at once rather than listening in pieces.

 

No good piece of art feels too long or too short, regardless of actual length

But there are a lot of bad albums that are like forty minutes away from being good albums

 

I said that but that doesn’t have anything to do with Lupe. I just can’t seem to get around to listening new releases I want to listen to, not even the short ones, so a long one is even more unlikely to happen unless one of my all time favorite artists releases it.
