Joe Reinhart solos are good solos

 

let's skip the argument about solos and talk about how cool breakdowns were 15 years ago

 

The Fall of Troy had some great ones

 

Fall of Troy had time for a break down changing direction every 5 Seconds?! Lol

 

One of my favorites of theirs starts at 2:24.

 

that comment about breakdowns was a throwaway but dammit now I have to go through my old music and find the good stuff

 

this is easily the greatest breakdown of all time and every other breakdown is a fuckin wimp in comparison

 

The first time I heard the end of Daylight Bombings by The Bled I lost my goddamn mind

 

Bam, that song was in my mind as well. I still love breakdowns.

 

I'm not as into breakdowns as I used to be but I still love this one.

 

Also Every Time I Die have some pretty good ones:

 

I feel like that whole breakdown thing was eventually going to reach some sort of singularity. They were getting longer, but with fewer notes played. Eventually breakdowns would have just had to become meta. Just a silence in the middle of the song, where the only noise was the dull thud of bros in vests colliding.

Also, that whole male aggression post was... fun?

Messengers is like the top tier “breakdown” album imo

There are probably individual breakdowns I enjoy more but that album as a whole is a solid display of what that sort of music can be

 

Listened to some Dillinger Escape Plan on the way to work today.

Dudes are on a different level. Nobody destroys like they did.

 

I saw them live a couple times and I remember when they opened for Deftones they honestly stole the show. Great live band.

 

I've seen them a few times as well and yes, that specific tour was amazing.

 

Breaking the walls down > Breakdowns. :)

 

Their last Michigan show was probably my favorite live experiences.

I need to listen to more Dillinger Escape Plan. I remember their last album before breaking up being really good but never returned to it. I like a lot of Miss Machine and Ire Works though.

 

Shredding kinda crazy fast for the sake of it solos are boring to me. Impressive cos I can't do it but boring. I like simpler things.

My favourite solo is probably Weezer Buddy Holly just because the video was included on the Encarta disc with Windows 95 (fellow oldz holla back) and those last 9 solo notes were the coolest thing ever and basically made me want to play the guitar as a 10 or 11 year old or whatever I was. (Even though I suck and can't play any solos now anyway!)

 

You can't really go wrong with any of their Greg Puciato albums, but I've really been digging Option Paralysis lately. Although the last song on One of Us is the Killer destroys.
