I think I'm gonna have to back out of this comp. I was really excited for it, but my health is taking a turn for the worst and I can hardly get out of bed anymore. Sorry guys, my body likes to "Get Fucked Up" more often than it likes to be healthy. (Figured I'd leave off with a shitty pun) haha

That was the reason I had to back out of the Weezer comp. So I know how you feel. Hopefully youre well for the next one! Fingers crossed!!

So I think I'm going to start exploring some of their stuff looking for a song I can do. Any suggestions on what album to start with?

Stay What You Are is probably their most popular album. Basically, the early albums are more punk rock and the later albums are more experimental but still kinda punk rocky.

You should also make sure to listen to "Ups & Downs" and "Sell My Clothes, I'm Off To Heaven."

  10. I would personally recommend starting with Stay What You Are. Maybe check out the song This Is Not An Exit, I could see you covering that one pretty well!

I'm getting in on this. Communicating with my recording partner on which song we're picking. If it's up to me, Daybreak. I'll be sure to confirm which track when we know for sure.

I'm almost finished with mine already. It's a short song. All tracking is done (unless I decide to add any synth or samples) and I'm loving the mix so far... might have this submitted tomorrow

Wow, I liked that song a lot! I'm getting my wisdom teeth out tomorrow, so I'll spend a little more time getting into their music before I can record, but I'll definitely keep this one in mind. This band is pretty good you guys...

  15. Still on the fence re: You Vandal and Rocks Tonic, but oh dang, This Is Not an Exit hasn't been called yet? Such a huge song.

    Submitted my tune.

With 3 weeks left, you think I could do another song?

  17. Since you already sent in your first one, I think it's fine for you to do a second one if you want to! That may be a good rule to start using going forward, actually: "Don't call out two songs until you've submitted your first one." That way, it eliminates people from wasting two songs, if they end up not doing either of them.

So yeah, go right ahead, my friend!

Right on. I'll spend the day checking out some of the STD stuff I'm less familiar with and pick a song tonight or tomorrow.

    EDIT: Jessie and My Whetstone

I'd heard this song before but didn't know it was a STD song.

Not really. I have kind of chronic stomach issues that have been worsening over the past couple years, and I also have a lot of mental health stuff that bogs me down further. Looking for a new doctor for the stomach stuff though (last one didn't help), and I hope to be back on medication for my OCD and panic attacks early July. I got out of my house to buy carrots and get the mail today though, so small victory. haha I'm excited to see what everyone else does on this comp, since I was probably one of the biggest supporters of this one happening. Make me proud guys

My cover is 90% done. Just need to nail down the vocals and mix it!

  23. Really feeling You Vandal right now, put me down for that. Haven't decided yet if it will be just acoustic guitar or if I want to put bass/drums in it, though.

Would I be a horrible person if I reserved Wednesday The Third as my second song and said I might not be able to finish it?

  25. let's only call out second songs once our first song is already submitted. i think that's a fair way of doing it.
