I see what you mean. there were maybe a few pacing issues, which would be really my only (minor) gripe with it, and it’s such a non-issue now having seen it, but I actually liked everything about that particular scene haha. definitely glad you liked it tho

Yeah, I'd just say some of the pacing, very minor. I'm in the same boat of not being able to stop thinking about it and think it'll bother me less on rewatch. Might've just been impatient and eager to get to Nic Cage's revenge, haha.

But seriously, that face merging was so subtle at first and subconsciously unsettling.

it’s so fucking weird, man :crylaugh:

    I love it

I’ve seen a few reviewers say it and I’d agree that it really does follow in the tradition of great midnight movies like Eraserhead, El Topo, and Night of the Living Dead. it should be watched on the big screen, and as late as possible

for those who have seen it - how violent/gory is Mandy?

There’s some pretty gnarly shit, haha, but also certain times where it was less gory than I would’ve expected them to be.

just watched Daybreakers last night. thought it was pretty cool and fun. kind of wish there was more, but works as one film too.

Really need to rewatch The Wailing. And The Thing, which I've only seen once before.

My girlfriend hasn't seen a lot of my favorites, so we're definitely going to watch An American Werewolf In London, Halloween, The Evil Dead series, NOES, various others.

  11. Is there a cut of A Quiet Place without the soundtrack? Perhaps fan-made, even?

I would say the violence definitely isn't the main attraction, it get crazy but only for brief moments within a very flowing and psychedelic sense of time.

I loved every second of Mandy, exceeded my very high expectations. I've never seen anything like it. I liked Beyond The Black Rainbow but this movie does all the things I wish that movie did and way more. The acting in the movie was phenomenal, the way scenes blended together, the SCORE. God DAMN. Nic Cage went all in and that still wasn't even the best part!

I think the biggest improvement on Beyond The Black Rainbow that Mandy has is that it brings you into moments that sober you at several points and that really helps you process what happened before, in BTBR you were sort of trapped in the world and you don't get a break unless you pause it lol. I do feel like some of the pacing was slow but compared to Rainbow it's nothing and it really just made it feel like a full on acid trip

I haven't even started on beginning to praise this movie properly lol

Jeremiah is such an amazing and terrifying antagonist and is the critique of how pathetic toxic masculinity is we need right now.

if you can, recommend seeing Mandy in the theatre.

There was some dude behind me who thought it was supposed to be like an action movie and would go "HAHA NICE" after every death in such a way that made me really wonder he was thinking during the opening 30 minutes lol
