Does anybody know what the deal with that Direct Hit!/Bombpops show is? I looked up the venue on-line... And it looks like a... Sporting goods store?

 

Yeah I have been wondering what was up with this since it was announced. I would like to go but having an idea of capacity and set up would be helpful so I know whether I should bother trying to go after work on Thursday or if it will be very small and fill up fast.

 

Well, it's free and it's an RSVP thing... I'm guessing if your name is on the list you should be good. I'm in the city with nothing to do, so I'm definitely going.

I'm just... Slightly bummed it's some sort of retail space and not a tiny bar or something. Haha.

 

Yeah. Chrome makes messenger bags and the like. So it's a....messenger bag store. I'm expecting it to be small and extremely packed with low visibility and bad acoustics. See ya there!

I’m not sure if Adolescents is going to keep playing shows after these ones that they already had booked, so I would say them unless you have seen them before.

Jerry is 83 years old and I can’t imagine he tours much longer. I don’t know if Riot is the best place to see him, but it may likely be one of the last chances.

 

i agree it’d be interesting to see some of his classic songs, but doesn’t he have a decent amount of controversy behind him?

 

I'm splitting Fever 333 and Liz Phair, but I guess it also depends on how much you like Lagwagon. Liz doesn't tour much, and Fever's show is too crazy to pass on.

The Front Bottoms vs. Sum 41 you could go either way on - both are excellent, especially at festivals. I'd say The Front Bottoms, since you could do the Sum after show.

So is the FAQ correct for the gate times? It says 11 each day and the first band that goes on I think is at 1:40 on Friday. I feel like I remember being there right at the open time last year and bands going on at noon

I live in Louisiana, and she's been here atleast once or twice in the last 2 years or so.

 

Weather is continuing to look favorable. Although I’m not liking that it’s saying it’ll be humid over the weekend.

Just don’t see Jerry Lee Lewis. Yes his music is super important but he is an awful human being who shouldn’t have been booked.

Also I would probably do a fair amount of splitting on some of these. Like for Calpurnia and Beach Rats, you could see all of Beach Rats and still catch 15 minutes of Calpurnia.

 

don’t talk about the weather because if it all goes downhill and the weather becomes unfavorable, you will be solely responsible.

Yeah, but I think this is pretty rare for her to tour this much. She doesn’t do much, she’s just done more than usual this year. And she was in Chicago in May but it was a 200 cap room that sold out day of.

 

Downloaded the app to make a schedule for fun and wow does it suck looking at it color coded. Friday and Sunday everything I would love to see overlaps at least a bit, and Saturday is just a ghost town for me until like 4 PM. I would have to do so much running and choosing. And why does Flogging Molly only have 45 minutes??
