The compilation album kicked off today with the release of the song and music video for Neck Deep’s cover of “Torn” (originally made famous by Natalie Imbruglia). Speaking about why they chose to cover the song, Neck Deep lead singer Ben Barlow said, “This song is a classic for a lot people; it’s actually one of my girlfriend’s favorite songs ever, so we’ve listened to it a lot. It clicked that we could cover it one day when we were on tour, eating somewhere and it came on the radio. We started singing along and quickly realized this would make an awesome cover, once we’d ND’d it.”

Working with the same team that produced the video for “Don’t Wait,” Ben continues, “We recorded the song with my brother Seb, and the video rolled round a little while later. Once again we teamed up with our buddies at OWIG and aimed to recreate the original video, but with a ND twist. It also features some cameos from some of our closest friends in the ND unit! It was a lot of fun being able to cover such a well-known song. Shooting the video was a breeze and as always the OWIG team nailed it.”

Songs That Saved My Life is now available for pre-order at www.songsthatsavedmylife.com. When fans pre-order digitally through iTunes, they will receive and instant grat download of Neck Deep’s cover of “Torn”. It is also now available to stream through Apple Music and Spotify.

On the launch of Songs That Saved My Life, label founder and President Louis Posen remarks, “Many of us became passionate about music, not just because it made us feel good in good times, but because of how it got us through tough times. Songs That Saved My Life is an ongoing project of our non-profit organization, Sub City, with a goal to recognize and use the power of music to break down the stigma associated with talking about mental health and to end the suffering of our loved ones.”

“We are very excited about this inaugural Songs That Saved My Life compilation. We are forever grateful to all of the bands on the compilation for being the first artists to be involved in the project, and for their courage to talk about how music helped them during difficult moments. If we can all talk about these moments together we will have taken the first and most difficult step in making things better.”

Sub City, the 501(c)(3) non-profit arm of Hopeless, donates funds and raises awareness for various non-profit organizations by connecting artists, fans and causes they are passionate about. Sub City has raised over 2.5 million dollars for more than 50 non-profit organizations including Living the Dream, It Gets Better Project, A Place Called Home, DoSomething.org, and New Directions for Youth.

I like this cover a lot.

  3. Only a band as boring as Neck Deep could make a song this great sound so lifeless

I have no problems with them changing it to be more relatable to himself. He’s possibly gonna be singing it 4x a week

    No one needed this cover.
I am interested to hear The Maine do DCFC, but most of these I’m not keen for. Taking Back Sunday should be interesting.

Perhaps the 4 mental health charity organisations are more appreciative of it though

    Agreed.
Sounds like you were prejudiced going into it. Not sure how this is lifeless by any means. As good as the original? No. A good, fun, pop-punk cover? Yes.
Which comment were you referring to here? The "no homo" one I'm guessing?

It’s confusing when it’s just written out of context like a subtweet ay

    Things have changed.

As problematic as this band has been in the past, I doubt them changing the gender of the subject was done to make it "no homo" ... so strange to immediately go there.

I really like this cover. It's fun, what else does anyone want from a pop punk cover of a pop song anyway?

Not looking forward to many of the others, the artists I would most be looking forwards to are covering songs I don't know or like (TBS, Against Me!, Dan Campbell & Ace Enders).

Not particularly looking forward to the covers by Stand Atlantic, Dream State, As It Is or The Maine, not because I dislike the bands, but I just don't see their covers of songs I love being something I would enjoy.

I'll give them all a listen anyway but there are only a few I feel like I'm looking forward to.

The Dream State cover should be fun. Generally I find LP are a hard band to fuck up. The Crossfaith cover of "Faint" was surprisingly good.

I'm genuinely keen for a Stand Atlantic MoBo cover as well.

Do we really need another "Bullet With Butterfly Wings" cover though? I mean jesus that horse is dead, stop beating the poor bastard...

Correct. And I’m all about that Imbruglia life anyway. Not the original Seppo or European ones
