"Hold Up a Light" is a banger (and so is "Wake Up"). Can't wait to hear that one live.

 

Look, when I need to change my oil, "Hold Up a Light" will sound pretty good. It wouldn't be a proper Thrice record if they didn't omit 1-2 great songs.

 

Both Blood on the Sand and Black Honey got a lot of play on SiriusXM from what I can remember.

 

The opening of "A Branch In the River" reminds me of TBS' "Error: Operator".

 

I think it's just not something I expected from Thrice. I can imagine myself singing along to them too. Honestly I think the mixing of the album kind of ruins it for me. I hope it grows on me.

 

"Hold Up a Light" is great.

 

Haven't listened yet. Is it actually good, or is it good like that time you said the Underoath record was good?

 

After a few listens, I kinda think my soul would have been a cool opener.

This album is so diverse, I think messing with sequencing could turn out some interesting results
(also I know this drives some people nuts...I like it the way it is...just a thought)

 

Anyone who managed to get the LP trio pack (wax mage) have their order changed today by KRM?

I'm puzzled by all the hate for it. That Foo-esque breakdown is great too.

 

Yep. Super dive bar almost lo-fi punk sounding better than anything the Foo Fighters have done in a long time song. It's great.

 

The Underoath record is good. So, uh, good one.

 

I don't mind the song, but I absolutely despise the bridge. The breakdown sounds like something off of St. Anger.

 

I kid. It just seems like you are okay with bands leaning more alt-rock than a lot of people around here. I don't want to get too off topic, but that Underoath record fell off for me harder than anything else this year.

 

To each their own, I guess, but the bridge (along with Teppei's guitar, especially post-chorus, and Dustin's vocals throughout) absolutely makes the song for me.

 

I'm having a real tough time telling myself that "Beyond the Pines" is not the best song on the record.

 

The only question I have about Beyond the Pines is this: am I going to picture Ryan Gosling riding a motorcycle through a windy wooded road while I listen to it?

No hyperbole: I think about 'Pines' characters every time I listen. I actually rewatched it last night because of the song.

It's a shame Derek Cianfrance has such a tough time getting financing for his movies. As a result, he was 2017's Commercial Director of the Year.
