The Saturday lineup looked the weakest to me, like most people have said, so I've been checking out the bands that day that I haven't heard of yet and Badflower sounds really good. Check out their song Ghost. Definitely going to catch their set.

Is there gonna be a surprise opening act for that Sum 41 late night show or nah?

Just saw the daily breakdowns, and two instant thoughts:

    1) So, is Bauhaus NOT playing this?
    2) I can't believe Run the Jewels is headlining the final night. That is huge for them. I'm so happy for all their recent success, I really hope they pull a big crowd.

A Bauhaus reunion as a last minute announcement would tick off a lot of goth heads. Lol.

Well, I’m not gonna dig too into it since I think it’s done being discussed, but for numerous reasons, not a lot of people aren’t happy he’s playing

It’s not that saturday is bad it’s just not for me it’s all bands that I maybe should have checked out but never did so maybe I’ll enjoy their sets but won’t have a great time

If the daily’s came out a few months ago this would be a different story haha

Realistically I’d watch all of these bands:

    Beck
    Elvis Costello
    The Jesus Lizard
    Twin Peaks
    Killing Joke
    Hot Snakes
    Andrew WK
    Gwar
    Street Dogs
    Adolescents
    Cobra Skulls
    Piebald
    The Frights
    The Districts
    Bully
    Mannequin Pussy

I’m just not excited to see any of them

I just realized they have two different daily line ups on their twitter. The only difference is SWMRS is playing friday on one and sunday on the other

And wasnt William Ryan Key supposed to be confirmed for 2nd wave?

Not that I want to see him without Yellowcard, but I just remembered that

I think he was rumored for a while as a potential second wave act, since he was opening the Moose Blood tour, but since that got cancelled that probably didn't end up coming to fruition.

Also, I've slept on it and my thoughts on this year:

Basically, Riot Fest isn't Lollapalooza. They are an independent festival who run bare bones in order to put every penny into giving us the best festival they can. With that, they've built solid equity among the music world. You hear it time and again from the horses mouth on how well ran, accommodating and for the music this thing is.

So this year they had a myriad of issues. First, their big get was having serious visa issues. They likely saw that San Fran weekend get cancelled and saw their chances fall to nearly zero. They also weren't dumb: they knew Blink could cancel and can you imagine the backlash if you sold daily tickets and the big get cancelled? They already had one ticket fiasco and didn't want a second. It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't scenario. LOSE/LOSE

I hear Lolla had a similar issue in 2014. Pearl Jam logistically had to bail and Kanye cancelled everything that year. That left them with their top two big gets out. However, Live Nation has a war chest of cash and paid up the ass for Eminem, paid up for Kings Of Leon and there was your festival: watered down but saved.

I think Riot returns next year and this year was just that one time where everything blows up on you. All you can do is your best to make it right and hope the blowback is minimal. And hell, if they give us Blink-182, Bauhaus and like Vampire Weekend, would we compain?

    Of course not.

From my understanding, it was confirmed he was gonna play. I believe he posted about it on one of his social media accounts a couple months ago, but then deleted it

But the whole Moose Blood thing makes complete sense, and I couldn’t think of another reason why he’d drop off

I think my thing with saturday is there's a lot of acts i'd be interested in checking out/heard good things about but not all that many that im very familiar with or incredibly hyped about, and while i love seeing new acts its nice to have a balance between the two categories.

It’s weird that Saturday is the outlier to most people. There’s not a whole lot I want to see on Friday.

Definitely seems like they set themselves up for failure this year.

It does help that Lollapalooza has all that money but they also plan at least two years out as much as possible. It helps that they have stability with their location unlike RF which seems to always have that hanging above their head.

I hope they pull of next year. I really do. But I’m not as optimistic as you. I think fans are going to be hesitant to pull the trigger next year and you can’t blame them.

I sincerely hope they give up the Bauhaus dream. I see Vampire Weekend playing Lolla. We’ll know soon enough.

I just hope they take this as a lesson that sometimes you need to be a bit more forthcoming with details.

Yeah the Bauhaus thing is annoying and I like them. If there’s visa issues then just get over it and book someone else. There’s a million other bands that could get people excited for as a reunion set
