No thy didn’t have to pay anything they have the mayor on speed dial and he gave them the 2 am curfew if I recall correct

 

maybe a dumb question, but how fast do these aftershows usually sell? might hold off until they release the daily lineup, but who knows when that will be. so idk if i should just buy aftershow tickets now or what?

 

They sell out fast. I'd buy now.

 

Some of them will sell out fast (Bad Religion and Bouncing Souls). I don't expect the others to go too fast.

 

Depending on the venue and bands right away or days

 

I'm now guessing Dillinger Four.

 

I think i only have the energy for 1 after show per weekend, so fuck yes, Bouncing Souls! Ive only ever seen them in the daylight at festivals so the chance to see them in a club setting is too good to pass up!

 

I'm only going to buy Souls today. I don't expect Sum 41 to sell out fast but State Champs probably will. So maybe I'll think more about Sum 41

 

I hope we hear more than the aftershows today. Don't really care to purchase a ticket for one if there is no scheduling conflict with the actual fest.

 

I'm sure we will be but nothing until after 12.

 

thanks for your help!! i’m really conflicted on this because itheres no conflict then i can buy tickets to see state champs (since they aren’t playing riot), but sum 41 is the bigger must see for me. so if there’s no conflict for sum 41 then obviously it’s no big deal and all is fine, but ya know, we don’t know that without the daily lineups haha

 

I would put money on State Champs being added.

 

I feel like they could have had more aftershows using more venues, unless the only have connections with certain venues? I.E.: SubT, Beat Kitchen, Reggie’s, Vic/Riviera, Lincoln Hall/Schubas, Thalia Hall, even Aragon for a bigger band possibly.

 

This is likely the case. They've never done a huge venue for an after show.

 

Riot Fest never goes all in on aftershows. This is on par with what they normally do.

And yea I didn't even think about it, but definitely it makes sense that we won't get anything until afternoon now. They're gonna want people to focus on buying aftershows. Then I bet you they announce daily lineups and tickets at like 1 or 2? with tickets on sale immediately. And then schedule comes next week.

 

I also think part of the "draw" is doing these shows at small rooms - i.e. bad religion at a 700 capacity venue. So even aragon might be too big for what they're going for.

 

Alright here is my tentative plan:

Thursday: Direct Hit, and then hit the town
Friday: Emo Band Karaoke, Sum 41 or Brendan Kelly - not sure yet
Saturday: Pop Punk Pizza Party and then hit Wicker Park area
Sunday: Bouncing Souls and then probably go out somewhere in that area

I turn 25 at midnight at the pizza party so we're all going to need to take a shot of Malort at that time

 

Don't sleep on the Bombpops Thursday night. They're awesome.

 

Yep I'll be there for them! Gonna try to get there early since it's first come first serve.

Also trying to get a tattoo in Wicker Park before the show (actually getting your avi)

 

If you are going to the festival itself as well I will say good luck, because standing at a festival all day, then going to an aftershow and standing in a venue until lateish, then going out after for four days straight will be hell.

Thursday: A good night's sleep
Friday: Was thinking about doing State Champs, but doing a good night's sleep instead
Saturday: Might do Emo Night Brooklyn if they get good guests, but probably opting for a good night's sleep
Sunday: Aaron West, promptly followed by a good night's sleep in the car

No one needs to take a shot of Malort.

Malort: If someone chewed black licorice gum, spit it out on a downtown city sidewalk on a hot day, only to have it scraped up and mixed in with the most awful rut-gut absinthe for flavor and served as a confusingly proud tradition of a city that should by all rights know better.
