I can understand visa issues holding up a Bauhaus announcement but not the second wave.

Was wondering how long this was going to take to come up. Given that they're bailing on them last minute this year... I could see that potentially happening as a "make-up" thing. Mark has said he'd been thinking about doing this, anyway.

Assuming that's what it is, I'm sure the festival would have announced it earlier if they could have.

The better question is: Why would you bank on a headliner who would have potential issues getting into the country? Especially if the same shit happened the year prior with that same artist?

 

Blink getting replaced by 3 bands is fucking awesome I was on the fence about going and depending on who gets added tomorrow and who the 3rd headliner is I am prolly going now

 

It’s also good news with blink being booked for next year which means there will be a riot fest 2019!!

 

Wow I left work/my computer for awhile and this is definitely something to come back too. Definitely bummed about Blink but the idea of this opening up the weekend for Alkaline Trio is exciting

Weezer, RTJ and TBS will all be must sees for me as well so I'm pretty stoked

 

Just getting a chance to hop on here, but holy fuck what a wild ride this has been.
I love blink, but I will most definitely take RTJ, Weezer, and TBS instead. What a stacked lineup that is.
Plus, we probably get Bauhaus tomorrow!

I can't imagine we don't get aftershows tomorrow but I'd be shocked if they dropped everything tomorrow

Another thing is this is nice for people who have the option to buy the $99 tickets for next year. At least there's one band you know you're gonna see so it's not a blind gamble.

This also works great from a business perspective because people who bought for blink can't return them now, Weezer has enough die hards that they'll probably sell a good chunk of tickets now for people to see them, and then also there's one more headliner. Honestly I'm confident at this point that by the time we get to the fest, it will be unnoticeable that anything was off this year.

 

Yea that's what I think. We'll get the full lineup, the daily lineups, the aftershows, and all that will go on sale at like noon. Then we'll get the actual schedule Monday or Tuesday next week along with maybe another album play or two.

 

So happy that I can post "56 mins" or "22 mins" tomorrow and actually be correct for once

 

barring any other setback

 

Yeah, I'm thinking we get that last headliner and a few more bands... Plus the dailies and aftershows (going onsale at noon).

With the schedule and map to come on Monday. These are arguably the least critical parts of the whole thing in terms of selling tickets, etc.

What additional album play are you anticipating?

I'm super stoked about this. But Blink-182 isn't enough to get me out there for 2019. Haha. But I think you're right. Weezer, Run the Jewels, and TBS will certainly pull some folks in -- despite recently being in the area in the case of Weezer and TBS.

I really think, once everything "settles" as you said... It'll be unnoticeable that things were off.

 

I saw TBS and coheed over the summer and they were great. Although Adams voice is getting more and more southern. Still kicked ass!!

 

yup lol. When they toured Tell All Your Friends in the early 2000's he had like zero southern accent....then he started doing it around 2006 and it just stuck. I've always wondered about this

 

i thought their tour this summer with coheed was the best they had sounded in a while, at least at the columbus date!

the change in his voice fits the new songs really well, and the older songs i think the different voice probably doesn’t matter too much — those tend to be more about the nostalgia and even a change in voice can’t take away people’s feeling/memories with a song.

that got a little oddly deep there. so, uh, cats!

 

So it sounds like Bauhaus still may be the other headliner. Not to dis them but I've never heard of them until they were referenced in a Blink song 2 years ago. Are they really good?

 

have you seen Tom singing with Blink before he left a few years ago? He sang the songs in his Angels and Airwaves style and it wasn't pretty. However, I miss him in Blink.

maybe i should say a natural change in voice doesn’t affect much (like adam’s accent from moving to the south), whereas whatever the hell tom was doing can sometimes be much.

i saw blink with tom once since their reunion, and have seen them twice since getting matt and yeah, i’d take tom back too.
