Oh my god this is a fucking riot.

 

I am so fucking stoked on this news! I was looking forward to seeing Blink, but... Meh... Lose one I was into, get three I'm stoked on!

 

I like Weezer and Run The Jewels, but blink-182 was the main reason I was traveling. Now I dont know what to do. Im sad :(

 

Yea I mean this still leaves me wondering who mystery headliner is. Is it going to be one of these bands now? Or is that still to come and this is solely to appease people about blink.

Also... pretty sure that TBS and RTJ were probably always going to be on the 2nd wave. I think Weezer is the one they pulled in as an emergency replacement.

Very cool we are finally getting RTJ. Seems like one of the ones that people have been really wanting.

I'm with you on TBS and RTJ. They didn't step up. They were already on the second wave.

 

The way I read Riot Fest's announcement implies they still have a mystery headliner outside of the blink replacements.

 

I couldn't be happier. I love Blink, and I'm excited for them to come back next year, the replacements are better - Weezer and Run the Jewels, specifically, were two of my most wanted bands.

 

It's not the HOLY SHIT announcement everyone (IE- me) expected, but I don't think those are the headliners for both nights? I think we have one more and maybe that's Bauhaus?

 

It better be EVERYTHING tomorrow though. Schedule and all, which I think it will be.

 

If you haven't seen RTJ live yet, you have to. I promise it'll be a great time!

Riot Fest is happening September 14-16, and we can’t wait to see all of you back in Douglas Park. We know this wait has been frustrating for many of you. We hear you. We see you. Please know that we have been working tirelessly behind the scenes – as always – to program the best possible festival experience for our fans.

With that, we have some good news… and some bad news.

The bad news is that Blink-182 has been forced to cancel its performance at Riot Fest 2018. The good news is that three of our favorite artists have agreed to step up and fill in: Weezer, Run the Jewels, and Taking Back Sunday.

Yesterday afternoon, while we preparing to announce a long-awaited special headliner – alongside single-day lineups and tickets – we received a call from Blink-182’s camp letting us know that due to health-related issues with Travis, they unfortunately and sorrowfully had to cancel their entire September tour. Moreover, Riot and Blink-182 want all of you to know that they are rescheduled as one our headliners next year for Riot Fest’s 15th anniversary. All of us here at Riot Fest wish Travis the best of health and nothing short of a speedy recovery.

As soon as we found out the news, we feverishly started to call upon some of our friends to fill the spot left by Blink-182. Within a matter of hours, Weezer, Run the Jewels and Talking Back Sunday stepped up, and will now be performing at Riot Fest 2018.

We’ll start rolling out the next round of announcements tomorrow at 10:00 a.m CDT.

Travis starting having issues with blood clots back in June and since then Riot Fest has been quite.

Doesn't seem like a coincidence!

 

I’ve always found it weird RTJ never played a Riot Fest. Now it’s finally happening which is rad

 

Lolla is a better festival for them.

 

Oh yea I didn't read the full letter until just now. For sure it's fronting that RTJ and TBS stepped up lol they just wanted to announce a couple different people in case someone excited for blink doesn't like Weezer. Really curious if Bauhaus will indeed be the third headliner or if there is something else entirely.

….can we safely assume that Alkaline Trio will be doing an aftershow in light of this news?

 

Actually I have seen them twice, in Mexico and Spain and they are amazing live. Also I've seen Weezer and TBS, thats why Im sad. I wanted to see a band that I been waiting since I was a kid
