Yeah, knowing at least the daily’s when I booked my flights would have been really nice. I’m just praying I don’t miss too much at this point arriving late Friday.

Hahaha yeah, if they pull off something cool it’ll just make it even better for those of us already going.

Ready for my stupid guess that's never happening but would check all the boxes? Green Day.

No not Green Day doing one set. Oh, no. I'm talking multiple sets over the weekend. Their initial acts fell through and they worked out a deal to make this happen. It threw the schedule completely out of whack and as a result the after shows. Also, it guarantees this thing sells FAST AS HELL. It also would explain how all single days would be affected. In this theory, Kerplunk gets played in a sub-headliner like show ala New orders slot last year. Blink stays the headliner.

Dookie is the biggun' and would then be the final headlining slot. Then, you add say Insomniac as another headliner and Beck moves to a long sub set (say, 1:15 time slot and Green Day closing the day out). Yes, stupid, I know. But it's about the only thing I can think up that would screw up all three days while also selling this shit out FAST.

But that's also asking people to drop everything with less than a week's notice. Most people will not be table to take off work. They won't be able to afford travel accommodations or even book them.

If you're doing this, you put all your energy into getting it done as fast as possible and don't wait until the week before or of to announce it.

Well if we're doing conspiracy theories... isn't there something about how Fugazi never wanted people to have to pay more than like $5 for their shows and had a real problem with that aspect of things? Well Fugazi agreed to play, but only if they weren't used as ticket-movers, so Riot Fest can't announce them until the weekend of, or possibly even day of. Therefore noone is paying festival prices to see Fugazi, they just happen to be there as a bonus. Unless that isn't Fugazi I was thinking about

I'm well aware that this is not actually happening though lol

But a 1:15 hours of Green Day really one gets you like 5 songs. Billie's gotta make this side say "HEY", and then the other side say "OH", then go back to the first side and repeat, until you suddenly realize they're technically in the 8th minute of "She".

(I love Green Day, and I love the dumb crowd shit. BUT OH MY GOD DIAL IT BACK. Stop doing every. fucking. song).

I think a huge last-minute add at this point would be more about creating some sort of sustainable hype for what the "mystery headliner" could be in future years.

you forgot to add in 10 minutes of billie sitting on the stage saying 'i don't think you guys are ready for this... i can't hear you!' (like he did at wrigley last year)

Green Day would definitely tick all the boxes. And to top it off? They're free from shows for the time being, and seem to be in "just do cool shit together for fun" mode.

That being said, I'm not sure that they'd do multiple sets over the weekend. And honestly? I'd be curious to know what the rate would be for them playing a festival like this... If Blink-182 were to cancel? I'd see them being brought in as a replacement. But coming in to replace, like, Bauhaus? I dunno. Feels like a stretch.

Them doing an album set would blow minds, but the practices they've been doing started a while back. So if it's a last-minute scramble... I'd put money on a regular set that just might be "old school" heavy.

As always, though, I'm getting way too excited by this considering it's unlikely.

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

And they still play 30 songs a night and are still one of the best live shows. They can do all that other shit and it's still better than a vast majority of live performers

    Hey. Supporter

“Petryshyn said there are announcements coming soon that should clarify what is going on with Riot Fest, including news about a potentially new artist or band being added to the lineup and information about single-day tickets.”

So is the second wave just going to be one or two new artists or am I reading too much into this?

Probably 10-15, especially with Exploited, Moose Blood, & potentially Elvis Costello off the lineup

Green Day & Rancid playing back to back either Friday or Sunday with Tim coming on stage for Knowledge would be pretty dope.
