Father John Misty will draw a pretty big crowd. He's ridiculously popular, and definitely in the category of "I'll check him out" for your average festival-goer, I'd imagine.

 

I feel like if they put FJM on whatever day Beck is playing (which I think we've deduced is Saturday?) it'll be a decent crowd. I could see that combo driving some single-day ticket sales (whenever tf they happen).

 

That combo does make some sense.

 

Agreed. If you're looking for "hard hitting news" then go elsewhere. But if you're looking for news about your specific neighborhood - violence, restaurant openings/closings, stuff to do, alderman nonsense - then Block Club does the trick. And I think this is a valid story for them to cover. True there isn't a ton of "news" but we're knee deep in this thread daily, so nothing they have to say will shock us. But not everyone is as deep into this as we are. As for the typo in the headline...well...

Riot Fest is happening — the rest will be a surprise

 

At least this is starting to get some media attention. Maybe Riot Fest will finally make some kind of announcement now.

Seems we're following a similar cycle as LouFest...

Except that this press is spun positively and hard.

 

Ok that one has quotes from Mike and I'm not only not worried, but back to believing they've got something massive up their sleeve that's leading them to continue delaying.


What has me much less optimistic is that if they are just now releasing articles with quotes from Riot Fest staff, that kind of tells me we shouldn't expect anything this week or they'd just be focused on getting the info out instead of giving quotes to the press.

Yeah I don't see it happening until Monday at this point which is wild

I really wish "shortly" had an actual date attached to it. Even if it's Sept. 13.

Not to be a dick or anything, but not being completely fucking silent for 3 weeks two months after you usually have all the information out to fans is kind of what causes rumors to breed.

Really hard to blame anyone but yourselves on that one, guys.

Seriously. They did this to themselves and they're going to blame people who are annoyed or mad about this. Great look, guys.

 

How are they blaming any one else? They're simply saying the rumors are true and that people don't need to panic.

exactly. and i mean we're not children.... with so many people flying from all over the place the least they could do was be more transparent about everything, especially with loufest canceling last minute... they should've released something that day to reassure everyone that has spent tons of money coming to rf

What's interesting is this phrasing...

That is so strangely worded. It also indicates one artist/band, and calls it out as "potential"... Which I'm trying not to read too much into.

It sounds like something definitely went wrong, they're trying to find a solution to it... And it likely affected the schedule.

It's also interesting that they say "information about single-day tickets" and not "on-sale dates for single day tickets."

But I may also be reading way too much into this.

 

Well, at this point? Even if it's a massive surprise? People will be pissed that they didn't get more advanced notice.

I, however, will be fucking thrilled.

 

Depends on if they got that from Mike or not. Maybe Billboard is taking some guesses at what those announcements will be.

I personally think they won't sell any single-day tickets in an effort to boost their weekend pass sales.
