Finally getting around to thanking all of you who gave me death metal recs the other week. At the Gates and Death are the two that I latched onto the quickest. Also liked Blackwater Park by Opeth.

Check out The Jester Race by In Flames and The Gallery by Dark Tranquility for stuff similar to At The Gates.

 

Slaughter of the soul may be the most complete death metal album front to back for me.

You may want to check out the black Dahlia murder and darkest hour.

 

Unhallowed by TBDM is basically shameless Slaughter of the Soul worship and I 100% approve it

 

to be fair that could be said for a fair amount of melo-death albums haha.

 

Through the Eye of the Dead were fuckin great Friday night. There was only about 50 people at the show, but they still put on a hell of a show. Their vocalist and drummer are both insane. Brought back the memories and even the new stuff sounded killer.

My local venue just posted something about In Flames playing there in November. I could've sworn they posted that they were gonna be playing "The Jester Race" all the way through but I can't find it anywhere now...

Anyone know anything about this?

Haha that's definitely true. They keep that core melodeath sound in all their work but change it up just enough to keep it interesting
