My most anticipated set, even over Bleachers and the Front Bottoms who are both some of my favorite bands. He's just so good live and I'm so excited to see the new songs live. I also think a lot of people are going to be really pleasantly surprised if they're not familiar with him and have written him off, but happen to catch his show.

I never would've thought that we'd have the same amount of information in September as we did in May.

Made the last minute decision last night to drive to Columbia MO for Matt & Kim. The antics they added to this tour are god damn wonderful, definitely do not miss..

On a side note - columbia is essentially 95% college kids (Mizzou) and holy shit does this younger generation not know what to do at a rock show. Could also be they are more pop/edm fans that recently discovered M&K more than rock fans so they werent used to that type of show but holy crap, no one understood what to do about crowd surfers. For some reason they would start in the front and be passed backwards and then once they got to the back they would just sort of float there and then be passed in random directions, multiple people crashing and burning HARD. same with attempts at a "circle pit" and wall of death (yea... M&K set up a wall of death, or as they called it "walls of kims vagina")

Could this have been because it's hard to get a visa to play a festival that no one knows is going ahead aha?

The blue note! Venue I’d heard about for years and finally made the trip out, great little spot!

They had 3 additional US dates they cancelled, so I don't think you can really pin this one on Riot Fest.

I gotta check them out this year. They played my college like 8 years ago and I got blacked out for the show. Iowa state police almost took me away but didn't......good times!

Oh yeah, the blue note rocks. The modest mouse, spoon and cursive shows I saw there are still a few of the loudest I’ve ever been to. No joke think spoon damaged my hearing haha

I got to play there a few times in my salad days.

So great to see that venue from the stage. The 10 or so people standing in the crowd wishing for their $10 back, the lighting guy wondering why the fuck he has to be here today for this, the sound of someone coughing in lieu of applause between songs.

With a rumored heavy stage and the rumored rap stage, along with Blink and Matt & Kim and Liz Phair, Friday's looking pretty awesome.

EDIT: Also, no Moose Blood on Friday anymore!!

I have to leave early on Saturday (I have to run 20 miles Sunday morning) so I am totally cool getting most my must-sees on Friday (read: heavier bands + Blink).

  22. campeondeluniverso

    nah.

i'll be doing my 20 friday morning starting on 31st street.

who would fill out the early portions of the heavy and rap stages? normally like 5 or 6 per stage but i can only come up with this:
rap stage: hobo johnson -> Digable Planets -> Cypress Hill -> Atmosphere
heavy: Fever333 ->(hot snakes or Killing joke maybe??) -> Bullet for my valentine -> Underoath

Just found this on Reddit (and I think it's somebody in this thread who asked the question, hah)...

So this means the press had the announcement ready to go last week, something went awry (probably with Bauhaus' visas). I'm really shocked that at this time next week I'll be landing in Chicago and we still don't have more info.
