“X is bad” is rude?

 

there is nothing wrong with saying "blank band is bad/boring" but you better damn well expect some backlash if you're gonna make that statement. Usually the backlash is going to be "ok, well why?" "they are just bad" is a bad answer to that. It's fine, but why shit on a band someone loves?

Do me a favor, next time someone says they love a band, and you have the desire to shit on said band, don't do it. You'll feel better after, trust me.

For what it’s worth, I found La Dispute to be pretty “non descript” in relation to mwY at first. It wasn’t until I really spent time with their music that I found them to be really unique and dynamic.

 

"La Dispute is a legitimately bad band darling" this was pretty rude, as was this flippant dismissal of uh... everyone there after. Refusal or inability to think of how you effect the people around you isn't cool.

 

I also don’t think the vocal styles of mwY and LD are at all reminiscent of eachother

I legitimately dont want you to be mad though. You can ignore everything Ive said if it makes you feel better.

Calling someones opinion a “bad take” is actually pretty rude though. Good thing Im not bothered by that personally.

This is wild. The original comment was a response to someone else making an obvious joke, then others explaining why they think they’re bad, and then the other side flat out saying our opinions are wrong, swearing and threatening to get banned over said opinions, and then told to not voice our opinions at all.

I don’t want people mad either, but it’s pretty ridiculous to not be able to have someone dislike something you like without flipping out over it.

Admittedly, La Dispute vocals are not what I listen to that band for. It’s the lyrics / stories. I really recommend (if you care) listening to Wildlife or Rooms while reading the lyrics and you’ll 100% be like “okay I get why people dig that”... but if not that’s okay, I probably wouldn’t either of a band I don’t like lol
