Forecastle is probably the best run festival I've ever attended.

More chances for locals to win tickets while gorging themselves on exotic meat platters if anyone is interested.

That’s gotta be the hold up! The hologram techs have gone on a edible binge in the mountains

This is obviously what has booked up the portable toilets because look at all of that meat.

The problem too is they have the smallest window to be successful. Look at Chicago Open Air, I went first year lineup was great, it sold out amazing event....the next year the lineup is just a bunch of bands that tour all the time....no one went....boom done! You go from sold out to done within two years. Rock Allegiance in Philly/Camden is pretty much done after this year, due to a rough lineup this year and then Avenged canceled. Them not even bothering to replace them. Pretty much confirms that the fest is done.

Open Air isn't done. They're taking a year off. They actually were the sponsors of the Breaking Benjamin show from a couple of weeks ago. What makes that interesting to me is that show was the weekend that Open Air was supposed to move to. That adds fuel to the fire of them failing to secure a home in time.

Also, I thought the lineup last year was pretty good?

  8. campeondeluniverso

    nah.

yeah, last year's lineup had some solid headliners.

I doubt they ever come back.

I think they will. Makes no sense to sponsor shows if you aren't.

And it was for real all to do with securing a spot. Chicago Fire had home games their usual weekend so then they pivoted to a larger headliner + soldier field and that failed to work out so they punted to 2019.

not entirely the same, but there was a fest in columbus in 2016 called “Promowest Fest.” had a decent lineup that year, did pretty well, said they were taking 2017 off to come back in 2018 and they haven’t said anything since haha

Oh for sure. It absolutely wouldn't be the first time I was lied to about a fest :)

Nothing about the quality of the bands....just that they were bands that you could essentially see anywhere, nothing to really get people to travel.

    1) if bands did double book i hope they don't drop when im in class, but overall it still suck for small to mid level acts especially. like blink will be fine but thats a huge loss for an act like pronoun 2) the only festival ive kinda dealt with is wanting to go to wrecking ball, hearing its coming, it never does 3) im pretty sure they have old ladies on michigan giving riot fest passes out out of their purses 4) i keep thinking of this

So yeah, no media credentials yet for anyone. That's INSANE when only 9 days out. I'm in the area but imagine those who are out of market?

Did you get a response or just no communication back?

nope. nothing. And several people I'm seeing on twitter (who I know cover the thing in years past) are all commenting they've received nothing yet either.

    The intrusive whisper fascinates me

If Riot Fest gets cancelled, everyone in this thread is more than welcome to change their flight plans and fly out and hang with me at my place in Orange County. We can go to Disneyland, and then throw a BBQ at my place while we blast music from bands that were SUPPOSED to play Riot Fest, slam some brews, and play some Cards Against Humanity

(Plus, my gf would be curious to meet all the “people I spent a lot of time online with”)

That's insane. I think that's also telling that there's no communication at all on this.

My birthday is still happening on Sunday next week (hopefully that doesn't get cancelled)

We can all celebrate in Chicago

Wouldn't be too disappointed now that getting refunded means I'd have a down payment for TID the Season in December.

Unfortunately, I think Wrecking Ball is done for good. They moved venues, and I'm pretty sure they don't have the big outdoor space anymore.

Bummer too, because I went the second year they had it and it was a fucking blast! Logistics aside, I think festivals of that size are probably just small enough to avoid the "festival bubble."

Park permit table updated. Still listed as tentative. Not surprising but the first permit starts tomorrow.
