    Where are your friends tonight?

At this point even them saying that doesn't make me feel better, because they'd say that no matter what. The only thing that would help people feel better about the fest is if they actually announce some concrete details about the lineup, schedule, aftershows, anything. Statements like the one they gave you just seem like empty promises to save face.

We reached page 182 in this thread. Blink-182 is playing Riot Fest. It's a sign, I know it.

Exactly. The standard answers aren't reassuring anymore.

The alternative (and it would probably be the easier one) would be to just ignore the message. Had they done that, I would have just assumed they were too busy at the moment or whatever.

I'm with you, in that concrete details would help me feel more secure...

I kinda just hope enough people bug them about this that they address it.

Responding to those messages actually does make things worse for them legally if things don't happen. It's like a shot in the arm to a reliance theory.

Now whether or not RF / their employees have been made aware of that is a different story.

I'm researching the largest porta potty suppliers in the Midwest and seeing if any are rented to capacity for next weekend.....I'll keep you guys posted.

I had a similar thought, but don't know dick about things legally. I could always point to that message and say, "Look -- I was told that I didn't need to worry. And I should have been worried."

So, I guess what you mean is, to cover our asses everybody should message them on Facebook about this?

I can't imagine that they'd bother responding if they weren't serious that it was still going to happen, and to throw the word promise in there too, like if they said "everything is scheduled to proceed as planned" then I'd be a little more hesitant cus words like "scheduled" and "planned" are not concrete. I don't see why they'd willfully deceive people at this date. If they thought it wasn't going to go forward, they'd ignore the message probably.

what if we find out big toilet is RESPONSIBLE for the delays? like riot fest can’t get enough porta potty’s for the festival? instead of saying “sorry you might have to just shit behind some trees” they go radio silent.

    the plot thickens....

"Everything is good. We’re on track and on schedule to have another great LouFest."
LouFest to the Post-Dispatch in a story printed 23 hours ago.

    DOOM! DOOM I SAY! DOOOOOOOM!

At this point, we can only be certain the fest is happening if they come out and say it's not happening.

Anyone drive by the park? Fences up at all? Anything being staged? Granted I saw loufest started setting everything up and canceled

Street closures start on the 7th. Park permit starts tomorrow if approved so some setup might start tomorrow to close off the park.

  18. campeondeluniverso

    nah.

i'll swing by there this weekend when i go running on 31st street if no one goes by then.

have we gotten to the point where this is worse than the last year of bamboozle?

just trying to keep up with my spreadsheet of “dumpster fire festivals”

I see your point there, but I feel like saying "everything is happening" is just as vague/open-ended.

But again, the easiest option would be to just ignore the message (you know, the way they do on Twitter and on their Facebook page).

The reality is, the person running the Facebook page (and in fact, most people at the organization) might not know WTF is going on and they're responding the way they've been told to. And the festival may, for whatever reason still be convinced that they'll pull it together...

Not gonna lie. If Riot Fest were cancelled "due to lack of porta potties," the absurdity of that would make the cancellation worth it to me.

We are definitely nearing the traveling festival bubble burst....so many have been cancelled/not returned in the last year.

The problem is that every single city thought they needed at least one. We were fine with three - Coachella, Bonnaroo, and Lollapalooza. Maybe throw in Governor's Ball if you really want. But anything more than that and you're asking for trouble.

But look at Chicago alone - Pitchfork, Mamby on the Beach, North Coast, Lollapalooza, and Riot Fest all in one place. Add on top of that Wicker Park Fest which is growing ever larger and punching up. Chicago itself is extremely tapped out.
