The use of the word “situation” confirms something is going on, even if we at least presumed that. Greg is also one of the most trustworthy music reporters in chicago so him saying this is of course more concerning than some anon on Reddit or something.

Also, saw a picture from someone who works at Riot Fest at the Sox game and it appears they just are showing the first wave lineup there. Seems pointless for them to be there if they aren’t really doing anything.

Dave Brownsound from Sum 41 just posted on Instagram saying he hopes they play on the same day as Suicidal Tendencies, I guess some of the bands really might not know what day they're playing.

Thanks for the context... So. Best-case scenario is that the "situation" is just that things are ridiculously delayed for some reason that will likely go forever unknown.

perhaps the poster on the table is for Friday artists? It's a weird collection of bands from the lineup.

We just need to still be keeping the faith. Get a bootle of red, maybe a bottle of white, like scenes from an Italian restaurant and say goodbye to Hollywood. I know we have New York State of minds and all we wanna do is dance, but sometimes we might be better off heading towards Allentown to the river of dreams to sing a lullaby, just like the Downeaster Alexa.

Its definitely a bad sign that the bands themselves don't know when they are playing. I'm guessing there is some kind of logicistical issue and it's not band related. I saw there was an online petition from local residents to get the festival moves to a different location but I don't know if that ever took off.

I’m here at the game. Nothing announced so far. Will update if that changes.

    Hey. Supporter

They had a contest for a kid to win a 3 day pass. No full announcement.

    A tweet I made:

Somebody else at the Tribune is talking on Twitter now -- and seems pretty confident that the festival will be going on... And hints that there's been quite a few different reasons for the delays going down.

But apparently the announcement was "once imminent" and the Tribune folks have been "nagging" Riot Fest "for weeks." So... Maybe they didn't have that Bauhaus visa? That could explain it.

I could also see them shifting some bands around based on the acts that were playing (for example: If the Jesus Lizard were set to play the same day as Bauhaus--which I could see--they may be trying to fit them on a different day along with similar acts). Just a thought.

Regardless. A bit more info on the "situation" that they're monitoring, hah.

I just checked the road closure database. Permits are approved for starting on 9/7 and end 9/20.

Edit: They were also just submitted or finalized on 8/31.

Their park permits are listed as tentative. Events later this year are approved.

They don’t have their park permits.
