On my 353754th listen....the only tracks I skip are Stay (just does nothing for me) and Blackbird (overplayed to death)....I love everything else,like really LOVE.The other Dan's songs work like faster nice punkrock interludes for me.Iam so stoked when Little Help comes on....if I had to pick up the favorite track (like if you held gun to my head)....Throw Me To The Lions ....I just love that Sum41ish intro,keys on beginning of verses,chorus,bridge and Viole-e-e-e-nce....yea Iam definitely grateful for this album as longtime fan...but I can't do ranking since I honestly enjoy everything..damn it's my favorite band

 

I love how raw Matt's voice is on Krystaline is . I get serious Sorry About That vibes from it.

 

Great album. So glad they rebounded with this.

Just finishing my first actual all the way through listen and hadn't heard Krystalline...damn this band knows how to write acoustic bangers

This is a good review. I feel like Sputnik users have typically been slightly unforgiving toward the genre (not AV Club level or anything but still lol) but pretty much everyone on there really digs it

 

I'd like to give a shout out to Epitaph Records for making the hype cycle for this album a bit shorter than usual so that I wasn't completely burned out on Blackbird by the time the album was released (perhaps would have been even better if that song hadn't leaked and they weren't forced into a press release, too).

But yeah, seriously, this is a great album and I really hope Matt can play in both his bands for years to come because there is so much potential there.

 

I think “Demon and Division” is Matt’s best song in 10 years.

 

Wore So Thin is a blast to listen to.

Krystalline is sooo good

 

This album rules. Bought it on cd today and finally got to listen to it all a couple times.

 

When you block someone in the FB group because you've seen him refer to MSIT as My Shit Is True like ten times the last two days

He's way older than 12 years old btw

 

That group sucks tbh.

 

Lol I joined it back when they announced the album cause I was like "maybe they can stop With the negativity" and like after two days of hype it's just devolving into posts of "does this song sound like this song" "what album don't you like" "is the 'not breathing' lyric about Matt half heartedly being in blink or Trio"

Like I think half the people in there wish there was Dan/Matt drama. And it's constant 'who do you like better' stuff too ugh

There's some good people in there but most the time it feels like they bum me out lol

 

I'm on the same boat as you, I mean I see people calling the new album garbage and I'm like have reasoning to back it up or I'm not going to give a damn about your opinion.

 

That post was hilarious. "Can we all agree" um like 90% of the people in here love it lol

 

Literally the only thing that could make me love this era of Trio more would be them sneaking in some acoustic tracks like they did for Agony & Irony. would love to hear Demon, Little Help and Stay especially. but I'm just so thankful the album exists lmao

 

Haha yeah I didn't expect B-sides but was hoping for like a Best Buy version with 2 acoustic at least but what a greedy a-hole I am haha

 

After a few listens I really like this but can't see it passing Crimson, GM or MSIT for me. MAYBE #4 but probably closer to 5 or 6. Still love it though

 

I think it might crack my top 3 Trio but way, way too early for me to tell yet. feel pretty comfortable ranking songs though:

Stay (up there with Fine/Every Thug)
Demon and Division (didn't care for it as a single, the amount this has grown on me is staggering. a classic Skiba)
Heart Attacks (pretty much as above, this has the better chorus but D&D comes in with that bridge)

Throw Me to the Lions (Back to Hell pt. 2 baby)
Krystalline
Pale Blue Ribbon
Goodbye Fire Island (I'm still not sure if he says "entitled waves will wash us all away", god-tier wordplay if he does)
Worn So Thin (this grows a lot, the "empty out like garbage" bridge is incredible)

Facebook has become such a dark place with so much hate and negativity. The Trio should make a concept album about it (I'm semi-joking).

I was surprised to find that Good Mourning didn't hold up better, though there are still some great songs on there. And that's only with one listen to the new album. I liked it a lot and expect it to grow on me after I spend more time with it.
