Early days still, but could definitely see this ending up in my top 3 with GM and MSIT.

 

I am in LOVE with this album right now!!!!!!!!!

 

I don't really get what they mean by the record sounding like MICF BUT what they probably mean is it was recorded in a similar fashion, I think I read somewhere that they wrote and recorded that record in a super short amount of time and I think the same thing happened here, just the guys in a room writing for a chunk of time and then putting it to tape immediately.

 

I’ve heard 6 of their albums but this is easily my 2nd favorite

 

"Throw me to the lions" is such a jam!!!!!!!

 

I can't get Lions out of my head at all today. Not that I want it to go lol

 

and so is Krystalline. What a way to end a fan-fucking-tastick album.

Like. I can't even deal with life right now.

 

I would be more than ok with them making Cameron Webb their permanent guy. I love virtually every production choice

 

Definitely the best since Crimson

 

Didnt know there was such love for MSIT, thats cool. I think the first half rules but after the rise against song I'm good every time.

 

realizing that I stupidly waited to buy the Sekrets vinyl earlier and now can only find them super expensive makes me really sad right now.

I like "Little Help" but agree it feels a little out of place on the album.

 

4th listen while I’m on lunch at work.

 

I finally have the album and can indeed confirm that "Little Help" is the same song Dan has been playing at his solo shows for 5-6 years now. Some lyrics may be changed but I wouldn't know. Same melody and everything.

I think that’s the best part of the record, everything after “I, Pessimist”. I love opinions!

 

Yeah, this is really good. “Stay” is my early favorite but the whole album is just easy listening. Goes by so quickly

 

I mean young lovers is probably Dan’s best song so yeah my shame is true is good.

 

A&I > Crimson *ducks*

I loved Crimson when it first came out, but I def ended up liking a lot of the songs (And bsides) on A&I more. Dan was awesome on Crimson but goddamn his lyrical performance on A&I was just so good..well, the 2nd verse of In Vein is a little confusing but otherwise he crushed it on that one. And as much as I loved his Crimson b-sides, they can't top Burned is the House and In My Stomach.

Matt I thought was pretty equal on both albums. Both have Matt songs I virtually never listen to (Fall Victim, Live Young Die Fast, Your Neck), both have ones I love, both have some forgettable tracks that I still listen to every once in a while. I will say that Crimson definitely has the superior closer...Into the Night doesn't belong as a closing track, IMO. Maybe a good penultimate one.

MSIT is a little harder to rank for me against Crimson. The highs are really high, but Matt's last three songs on there are largely forgettable for me. Tracks 1-8 is one hell of a consistently good run though, with Kiss You To Death being the only misstep there.

 

I feel this album is the best Dan has sounded vocally.

The lyrics on azlyrics are very laughably wrong tho haha

 

Definitely see what everyone says about this feeling like classic Trio tho...it does feel like them in that GM-Crimson era...other eras sneak through here and there too.

 

Something about Stay sounds super familiar. I’m gonna have to listen to the intro again...but I have a feeling it might be another riff from an old Dan solo song.
